How about you let ME store that 6 speed in my 931/rolling test bed?

I promise to throw a SBC v8 if I blow the not-so-stock motor; SCOTUS honor!

Long term plan is to get a S2 or 968, move the engine into my '83, megasquirt it (and ultimately replace every scrap of 30 year old wiring and rubber), and drop a LS motor into the S2/968, no corners cut. That leaves me with two bulletproof (relative term) cars that will be a hoot to drive.

The motor in my 83 is actually sort of special (see sig) and will probably end up being involved in some sort of hilarious project à la Admiralkhole and a supercharger...

Last time I talked with someone on this he said he was trying to get a longer splined rear coupler made to make it work. Would be cool to see one dropped in as other audi trans would work as well.

for all the faults of the souped up Volkswagon that comes in the form of a 968,

ignition and electronics issues appears not to be one of them.

I can have any/all of that made if anyone wants, I have some design experience with shaft/spline, and have a place nearby that makes nascar/drag gears (among lots of other types)

Gear ratios are quite close to the 01E transmission used in a 968.

Thanks for the offer! I'll let you know if I ever get around to this project.

Anyone know if a 1981 931 trans bolts up? I thought they had the same input shaft but am not sure about the bellhousing. There's one local that's being parted out, and I've heard those transmissions are one of the strongest ever put into the front engine Porsches.

Yup, only the 79 and 80 931/924 had the almighty g31. Installing one would require a different TT to mate to the tranny, the g31 has a really small bellhousing compared to the 016.

And a 931 torsion bar carrier, or fab some mounts to support the trans.
