wow man, i really feel for you glad you and your little bro are ok. you seem to be taking it a lot better than most. i wonder if rennbays special on fuel hoses is a coincidence?

does anyone have any input on how to handle this kind of fire with a small extinguisher? I keep a small one in my car but unless you catch it early and you use it effectively its not going to be much use. i used to work on a start line crew for regional rally and WRC events. Being the guy who puts the car on the start line i would have to check the cars for damage that could come off during the stage and check they were wearing their PPE and belts properly. Our fire brief was (too basic) to open the hood just enough to blast the engine until the extinguisher runs out. opening the hood full allows the fire to breathe.

this is how the pros's with an appliance do it.

I'm so sorry to see the demise of another beautiful early 944, especially by fire. My son eventually drove my 83 and I loved that car; it was my 1st Porsche. He took out the oil pan on a road hazard and it too caught fire but luckily not fuel related so damage was limited to engine compartment and harnesses only. We were able to save the car and it went on to race in Spec 944 with a new owner. Hopefully another nice one will come along for you.

Updated a few pics. i gave them everything over the phone but no adjuster yet. i have all documents ready to prove my case on my car. hard to price the FOHA lip haha. but ill let you guys know more when i do.

as stated above a small fire extinguisher does very little unless you catch it very very early.

that's is correct, once the fuel lines are rupture a small extinguisher does little to nothing, best insurance is to replace your fuel lines

I brought my car into an indy Porsche shop for a pre tech inspection and told them to change the fuel lines. They told me after that my car was not the late model and I didnt need to change them. The OP said the fuel line one early 944's to change is behind the brake booster. Can anyone please elaborate on the lines to replace, I dont want to go up in flames.
