I've tried with and without and noticed no difference.

Doesn't it just restrict more negative camber? So even if the towers move 1/8th on extreme weight transfer I doubt and extra 1/8th negative camber will affect anything. That's my theory anyway

It's not like other suspension flex like at the a-arms that will affect camber, castor and toe when they flex. imo spend the money on other suspension mods like solid a-arm bushes and top mount.

i dont have experience with them on 944s, but i know it genuinely transformed the handling and feel of my infiniti, which is a much newer design (and likely a significantly stiffer body, designed ~15 years later)

The strut brace alone isn't really enough to improve handling IMHO. Remember, the strut brace is designed to prevent diagonal corner flexing, not front strut weight transfer.

I've got a very stiff custom built strut brace on my car, and it definitely made a dramatic difference as far as the car holding flat under heavy cornering load. A very worthwhile upgrade.

944 has one of the stiffest bodies of stock cars, I doubt any toyota has stiffer body regardless of design date. Tall tunnel and high door sills make it stiffer than other cars.
