Honda V6 swap

Looks the same Block pattern, now does it fit the 3.5/3.7 pattern we're in biz.

power would be about the same with the V8, but there is something attractive about an engine so commonplace that it is almost disposable if something goes wrong. with a big enough truck and a few hours i could bring home 5 such engines on any given day at the boneyard.
disposable lends itself to boost-friendliness...

It may be a few weeks, but I will do some reasearch on bell housing dimensions and compatability.

That's true, but a $200 4.6 likely is in the same 275hp range as the 3.5. For guys like me that just want reliable OEM power the 3.5 may be worth it. The 4.6 is a cheap platform to build on.

The 4.6 share BH pattern with the coyote 5.0, it is a VERY similar block and even shares the same cylinder spacing and similar head castings as the 32v cobra 4.6. It is NOT the same as the duratec family AFAIK. I would LOVE to see somebody put a duratec motor into our cars, its literally one of the most commonplace motors in the united states and dont ALL 3.5's have forged internals?

The article I found says that new duratecs are all 6 bolt main with forged rods and cranks. Someone else has told me its the same rods and crank they use in the 3.5 ecoboost (and same block)
A friend just found one reasonably local for $250 and only 50k on the clock.
Has anyone done throttle by wire in a 944? That will be the next thing. If we can't mount a ford gas pedal (I hear its easy) then it may take a custom tune to go back to cable.

I personally hate throttle-by-wire and the fords especially suck for throttle response in low load situations like heel-toeing. It'd have to be cable driven if it were in my car.

It sounds like we should be calling this "cyclone" instead of duratec to differentiate the old duratec.
Here are dimension ps I've found:
Width - 25in at the valve covers
Length - 23in without accessories
Height - 30.5in
That height look like it may be a killer... Any thoughts?

I am also interested to see where this whole 2.3t mustang business goes. There could be gobs of aftermarket support and I hear rumors that ford may even offer swap parts (for older fords) through ford racing. If this catches on, it could be interesting.

The mustang platform should also spur aftermarket support.
