Here is the link (last page) to the thead on the 951 page:

https://rennlist.com/forums/944-turb...-again-39.html

I will admit I didn't read every single post - it's 39 pages long - but it appears (unless I missed a later announcement) there will be one run of 800 units, which will be frameless, bronze in color, and for power sunroofs only.

Too bad I converted to manual a while back...

When you say frameless, what exactly does that mean? And why bronze as opposed to a neutral color like black or grey?

Bronze is pretty neutral for most colors. It goes great with red too, which is what 60 percent of 944's were painted. Frameless means it's glass out to the edge, with no metal frame out on the outer edge.

I for one, can't wait. You won't catch me complaining. I kept my power roof though.

Didn't yiy have to mod your top to make the manual latches work? If so then that means it won't work.

Thanks.

I too have Guards on my 951 but would have preferred black. I will still get it as for this kind of money it would be stupid not to.

I'd hardly call it neutral or good looking on red. Personally i think it will look like *** on red! Will date the car and be the only bronze piece of glass, not matching the factory tint/clear or aftermarket tint. At least with silver/black it would blend with the car.

I was seriously considering it until I saw they were bronze only.

So let me see if I understand this. Because the tint is bronze, there is hesitation to purchase a top for 300 after all these years of overpriced tops. Interesting, rather not have one at all because of the tint. Ok, that is a choice.

Yes.

If it's not going to look right in the car then any price is a waste of money.

I liked my red car with bronze painted rims, it actually works pretty well. Eh, to each their own.

I too actually like the gold BBS wheel look on a red car. But having 1 gold wheel and 3 black would look like ***!

This is the way I feel about the top. One 70s bronze glass panel and 6 green/clear/black ones would look like *** IMO. Just seems like a much safer business decision to make them a neutral black tint. Kinda curious why they aren't!

I've had a Saratoga offered to me in the past but the color was bronze so I passed.

In searching for pics I discovered one on Pelican that has been for sale for a YEAR! At a reasonable price. To me that doesn't scream high demand.

Was there once a poll on this somewhere that I missed? Link?

Good job on getting these done, its always good that manufacturers do this sort of thing for the (small) 944 community. However I cannot understand the attraction of having a piece of glass above my head or letting more sunlight in an already bright/hot interior due to that huge hatch. What is the appeal again?

Thanks for that link. That is really 70s, I mean bronze all right. I don't understand why that color was chosen over black which goes with everything.
