i thought Porsche eventually bought the S2 and re-designed some of it; and dabbled with the resulting car for a couple of years.

so let's review;

944: VW/Audi

968: borrowed VW/Audi hobby car.

used 944/968: kit car.
I have to admit you have such a unique way to make friends, lol.

thanks Luis,

i certainly believe you're correct. i've always tried to live by the adage that no good oportunity to make friends and build lasting bridges must ever go to waste.

awe heck, even when i bump a thread, my friends and strongest supporters come out, eager to offer nearly endless praise.

btw,

even as a kid i was always a quick study with the classics.....

I'd have to say a Honda S2000. Although I have a soft spot for those deathly unreliable Mitsubishi Starion/Chrysler Conquests. I wouldn't mind trying my hand at one of those.

Mind you, if I had a bit more cash? Pontiac G8 GXP, hands down. Four door Corvette.

Oh, good call. I forgot about S2000's. I really like those. With a hardtop even better. I have never driven one, but it is probably best if I don't.

Quiet, you.

On an unrelated note, I have spent considerable time wondering what the rest of the picture your Israeli avatar looks like. I am intrigued, to say the least.

I had the opportunity to drive an '05 S2000 (2nd Gen) last summer. Phenomenal car. It's hard not to constantly drive the thing at 8000rpm though, it just sounds so nice. Very cramped interior though. But I agree, the hardtop would be awesome.

Easily a Crossfire SRT-6. These beasts put out around 330/340 genuine HP, and can be easily modified to put out over 400 reliably. They look cool and handle great. They are very well appointed and you can buy one with almost no miles for a song. Best bang for your buck out there. I owned a Crossfire and loved it. going to get an SRT soon.

How **** do we want to get here?

4 doors + full back seats does not make a sports car.

I'm very old school with the term "Sports Car" and very vew cars made today qualify.

Need to keep in mind one of the purest sports cars every made is this:

Mr P said it was a real Porsche - good enough for me .

But again I have been looking at 996's - like a 1999 with an Aero kit or even a 996 Twin Turbo. Add in the Cayenne, and none of my Porsche cars have been real Porsche's.

I drive an 2.5NA so I won't be fiddling with $19k.

If I don't have the 944, I will be driving a:

E30
Miata 1st or 2nd gen
MR2 MKII
S14
Celica supra

Let say I hav 19k and not driving a 944 turbo:

The list above with excellent condition +
s2000
E36 M3
Vette C3
GTV6

I would probably have bought either an E36 BMW or a Miata. I had previous Miata experience through the one my dad bought but was actually considering picking up an E36 around the time I decided to get a 944 instead. Of course, I have since acquired both of those cars anyway.

Otherwise, I would probably have a VW of some sort. I was heavily in the VW mode at the time so I may have gone that way, too.

I had a lightly modded, 95' GTI VR6 about 15yrs ago. The little car was a blast to drive and IMO, the only real down side was it being FWD...

If I could find a R32 in the price range that might be my choice...

I have always liked Techno Violet E36 M3 sedans. But for now I will just keep my manual swapped 850R.
