Default ICV -the problem that never ends

Does anyone have a permanent solution for this ?
My original ICV from a few years ago would not keep idle ,cleaned it and worked fine for a year or so ,left it like that for some time.Last year got a brand new one that turned out to be faulty from day one ,idle would not go lower than 1200 and got worse after giggling it a bit ,idle would fluctuate from 1000 to 1500rpm.
Bypassed it completely and ran without it for 6 months but eventually got tired of keeping idle with the throttle till the engine warms up a bit. I have now installed a used icv that worked perfect for 20 min lol ,idle was spot on at 900 with the engine at operating temp but right after running the car a bit harder for a couple of miles the idle shoot up to 1200 . It's getting very annoying and i hate working on it ,they mounted it in the worst possible position ,next time i will get some long hoses and put it in a more accessible spot.
I was thinking of maybe adapting the early style icv , is that more reliable ?

Could the AC idle step-up system be misbehaving? or the canister purge circuit?

How are you cleaning them? It is hard to get them really clean, but you can use a 9v battery to make them move while cleaning them. They work just fine for 20 years or so, I think getting back to new configuration might be the ticket.

You can buy a new/rebuilt one for a similar car for a lot less money than they charge for the Porsche part. The same part turns up on Volvo/Saab/etc. and you can match the hose arrangement and connector and plug 'er in. Check out the Volvo 240/740/940 part.

Some have had luck by using an early 944 heater valve (cable operated) in place of an ISV. You would just need to find a place to mount a cable and pull/slider lol.

how about an electric heater valve controlled with a window winder button and wiring . Id hate having a choke in a 944 ,electric is more fancy

Is it the three wire? Check out Bosch# 0280140501 or 0280140520. There should be a Python reman for under $100 or new for $150ish. Early 944 is probably different but also a common part on other cars.

If you get a used one, soak the business end really good and scrub out as much crap as you can. Seafoam or the like would be good for this. A 9v battery should move it easily.

when you bypass the ISV you have to open up the idle screw to get enough air when the TB is closed. Did this to three race cars now and they idle perfect....except when its really cold you have to help it alittle till it warms up.
