Default Has anyone painted their car a Flat/Matt or a Satin colour?

So I'm looking for a 944 that has been painted a Flat/Matt or a satin colour.

Anyone done this?

I know some of the newer cars have options to get a flat colour, usually black

Thanks,

Scroll down for a photo of a flat black one. I have zero background on how that 944 was painted. I played with a flat white idea when repainting my car, but went with Glacier white instead from the 993s and early Boxsters. I think flat colors are difficult to be done right, and if you ever need body work later may also be difficult to match without repainting the whole car. The only time I've seen flat black look really good is with a (vinyl?) wrap. Google image photos of high end sports cars with flat black wrap. I know I've see it on Lambos before. I believe with the wrap it can be removed without harming the original paint. I also have no idea what a custom wrap would cost.

I know for a fact I've seen a 930 with flat black paint that looked incredible, so there's no reason a well-done 944 wouldn't.

I personally think it doesn't look good on 944 series cars. It might be the lines are too straight and flat. The cars it looks good on imo are very aggressive looking designed cars.

I know, wrong forum, but I always thought satin black looked good on a 944, and ideola just solidified my thought. I contemplated respraying my car in a satin black as well, but I didn't want to have to change the whole cars color...so a respray in guards red it was!

One day...

i painted this one for Andy nine-44 years back and its still around now owned by another buddy. This was painted with basically a gallon of laquer trim paint which i wouldnt recommend- the old hot rodders used black sealer. There are also now additives to make clear dry matte finished....

About a 1200 to wrap a 944 possibly less.

hmm, interesting. i think the car needs to be sitting low with a lip on the front to pull off the matt black look.

Thanks for the photo

Default wrap

Thats my starting rate for small cars. I think because of the huge hatch it could be less.

I think matte/satin black on a 944 makes it look like you ran out of money and couldn't afford to paint it.

I think satin in Somme other colors like a titanium grey, orange, blue or similar might look really cool on a 944.

Example from SEMA last year.

I did a google image search of matte red, and saw this really awesome corvette in that color. It looked so nice. However, I think that matte red on the 5.0 just makes the car look like it was sitting in the sun and the paint faded. I think it really depends on the color what ultimately, what the owner prefers. I think matte black and matte white look sharp on most cars, and that any other color in matte wouldn't look hot.

I really want to stress that whatever you choose, make sure it is YOUR choice, and not someone else's on this forum. Over on pelican, it started to turn into an argument. Hope that doesn't happen here, but if it does, remember that you're the one who gets to drive that car everyday.
