Nice work! I hope my dark metallic anthracite plasti-dip job comes out as nice, I'm most likely going to be spraying it with a gun. I'm impressed at the quality of the finish considering you used cans.

I stripped my plastidip off my 944 and went paint, but I really like being able to mock up colors.

I have some fun ideas for my minitruck...

Well, this Porsche has so much work to do, it's not worth doing a proper paint job on it.

So I think I'd like to add some plasti-dip to in, in order to spruce it up, and cover some of the rock chip areas.

Here's some pictures of the car:

If anyone has some mad photoshop skills, I'd love to see what you might come up with for designs for this car. Racing stripes? Valence dipped? Other suggestions?

Does anyone know if you can use Plastidip on the underside of a vehicle to inhibit rust?

I would say it's probably a poor choice for that application. Plastidip is durable until it gets chipped or an edge is lifted, then it's potentially game over. I just wouldn't trust it to hold up against road grit and grime, not to mention rocks and salt and other abrasive things in critical rust areas like wheel wells. Use proper undercoating or bedliner.

there are specific products designed to be undercoats, if you want an undercoat, why not use one of them? they are not expensive

Used less than 3 cans of green, less than 3 cans of grey, less than 3 cans of black, and probably 4-5 cans of white (because white had to be used as a basecoat for the green as well).

by the time you pay for all those spray bombs, you could have almost just as easily done a medium quality paint job on your car just by constructing a temporary spray booth in your back yard....

still, I like that interesting multi color car.

Thanks again!! I do have a few more pics to post. Mixed it up with some different wheels and stuff but otherwise it looks about the same.

Under the hood? LR boost "enhancer" and a cat-delete, that is all.
More upgrades to come soon.

Thank you but on the contrary, good sir. I paid around $100-120 for all my plasti-dip. Another maybe $10 bucks in tape and paper. Painted it in my uncovered driveway, under the trees . Only removed fog lights, front turn signal lenses, and license plate, the rest was masked. Took less than 8 hours total from start to finish including masking and unmasking. And the best part about it - I did not sand down a single surface, and when I get tired of the look, I can peel it all off.

Here is where I painted the whole car in my driveway, beneath the trees

It started out as that, actually. But it was too time consuming to mask off so many squares and I was trying to get the car completely painted for a big 944 Meet & Greet that very same night, so I had to go Plan B and just do regular freehand camo.

Washing the car is ok. I have used a electric household pressure washer (not one of those big insane ones) and it did not cause any problems. As long as you don't have an edge for the water to blast under, it is very durable and won't come off. Bird crap so far has had no negative effects on the plasti dip... and I'm not sure about spit... haven't tried. lol

Vinyl wrap is the way to go. My plastidip paint job may look half-decent in pictures, but up close in person it looks like straight up ***. My purpose for spraying it was just to have some fun and experiment, knowing it would only be a temporary thing anyway.
