PHOTOS from Atlanta 944 meet & greet... And our Tail of the Dragon run! Lots of pics!
First of all, thanks to everyone who was able to make it this weekend. Despite the rain problems and everything else, I'm glad we still had such a huge turn out, and also such a fun Tail of the Dragon trip!
Also, I counted a total of 35 different 924/944/968 cars. Can you believe that we had 4 944's from Florida, 1 944 from South Carolina, 1 924S from North Carolina, and 1 951S from Alabama, all drive many hours to attend this meet! Now that is impressive!
On to the pics... Most of them towards the end came out a little blurry, sorry!

And last but not least... Ben, who was very excited to be driving his car again, after a complete engine rebuild!

Now, on to the Tail of the Dragon run. 318 curves in 11 miles. We had 8 944's, an e30, and a Mustang in our group. What an awesome trip. The mountain views, rivers, rock walls, dams, curvy roads of course, and a spirited group. It could not have been better! All the roads surrounding the Tail of the Dragon road, are nearly equally as curvy, so getting to and from the Dragon was just as fun of an experience.
Deal's Gap Motorcycle Resort - This is the beginning of the actual Tail of the Dragon road (North Carolina side). There is a restaurant, gift shop, motel rooms for bikers, etc. The place was packed with bikes obviously so we made our own parking spots.
One of the overlooks.
Had to place my 2013 Central Florida 944 Rally & Swap Meet decal on the guard rail! Thanks Lina for having an extra one handy!
Thanks for looking!!

And for the record, yes - I did cross something off my bucket list this weekend....
Drift the Tail of the Dragon!
Scroll through these quickly and you can get a cool effect of the frame-by-frame shots. THANKS 129slayer.com for taking these! I will definitely be ordering them tonight!

Thanks everyone!
And awesome idea Brent! There are actually a few shots in between that I skipped over because they looked too similar. It would probably look smoother if all of those shots were included. I'll PM you the link if you can build me a new one with all the frames?! Thanks!
And Rob, I can't drift backwards

Let's work on this Jeff. I live in Silver City (about 3 hours east of you, just inside NM). We have great roads around these parts, and could likely get the cops on our side to let us play without tying up panties in knots. I posted something in the western region forum here on RL already, hope it garners some support!

Guys, the trick is to just plan a meet up well enough in advance and set the date, time, location, WITHOUT asking for everyone's opinions or else nothing will be accomplished. If you just set it up, they will come. Pick somewhere easy for everyone to get to, with access to food and restrooms, and you're golden.
Once you've done that, your homework is to scout out EVERY 944 in your state that you can find, whether it be on Rennlist, Pelican, craigslist, or your neighbor. Invite them, and tell them this chance won't come around again till next year. Post your event on Rennlist, Pelican, Craigslist, PCA, etc. but make sure you describe the ' what where and when' very clearly.
The first time in 2007 or so, back in Orlando FL, we had 6 944's. The next year it was about 18, the next year about 25, etc. etc. This year it was close to 50. Now I'm in GA. First year starting at 35....
