Default 20v I5 engine swap G25A

Now i don't want any one to get upset but people proly will. I have been reading about the audi I5 swap and started to look for othe I5 engine in slant configuration and i found the 2.5L honda engine 187hp 175ft-lb seems like reasonable option. Yes i realize it is a honda but it is the same setup as the audi its cheap enough to find one and less than 400 to rebuild. Does anyone know anything about this engine and if it would be possible to swap one into 83 944 you would proly need custom adapter but the thing i was more concerned with was size and fitment into engine bay if it is same size as audi? Also how much does a 83 engine sell for? 94xxx miles runs fine and it would be with dme.

why not bolt in a 188HP 944S motor, or a 208HP 944S2 instead?

seems like a lot of work for no gain aside from the cool factor, and the sound.

Porsche engine prices vs honda and yes the sound is amazing plus i like to try and be different. Also do you think i would have better luck finding info on engine on a honda forum?

Dude, it may be cheaper to actually aquire the honda engine than an S2 motor. But you'll waste a lot more money and time adapting that engine to work in to your porsche shell than you would just swapping to a proper porsche engine. You basicly have 2 choices if you want to succeed in getting another engine in your car. Stick with a porsche motor (S/S2/968) or go LSx. Otherwise your not saving anything and should just stick with your stock NA. Those have both been vetted and the kinks are worked out. Not so with your Honda, you need to be able to work this all out yourself as no one will be able to help you really.

The audi swap is cool as well, but i always thought that was an easier swap for the early 924/931 vs the 944 since they have the engine cradle setup for the VW motor...

Sorry when i said cost i was more refering to maintenence and upgades and replacing broken engine parts. I understand swaps are not always cheap would be doing work myself. And thanks for the input.

I like creative engine swaps but I don't understand why put another engine in the car that is the same displacement as the factory engine? Not downing you at all just want to understand. To me personally if I was going to do a swap it would be a v8, cheap to work on, plenty of upgrades available and conversion kits are available.

One problem with the v8 swap is you have to unbuckle your pants, pull them down to your ankles, bend over, and prepare for the gas companies insertion.

I like your thinking but keep looking for a better candidate. Nothing wrong with being different and thinking of alternative solutions. My grandad used to put V8's into things.

Ohh.... and don't forget to hold on to your ankles, cause you sure aren't going to be holding on to your cash

That's better than I average most of the time...

but then again most of my driving is firmly in the right half of the speedometer at 3AM...

not a good argument.

Becoming arrogant and condicending towards the original 4 bangers maybe (although I don't know why, when I can smoke them easily ) ..but not gas mileage.
