I have an 83 944 with a brown/tan interior, id like to paint the interior black and possibly wrap rogue status gun show print on the door panels.

My concern is the interior feels more like pleather than plastic. Good paint to use? Only info i found by searching was from 06/07.
Im just trying to get out of the 80's everytime I get in the car! (Im 20)

I used this to repair some bad UV damage to the dash on the 968. It was burnt brown and it came back to classic grey and no diff in the colour from the undamaged interior. It goes on with stiff bristled brush and you sort of dabble it on. The consistency of india ink. A little goes a long way.

I also have the brown interior on mine. My plan is to replace with a black/can can red theme. I looked at painting the the interior pieces, but I've decided to just start buying all interior parts in black instead. Painting it just doesn't feel right for me. Dash, carpet, and seats will probably come from Classic 9 :http://www.928leather.com/

SEM Colorcoat works well for vinyl, it comes in a rattle can. I like Leatherique dye as well, it get applied with a brush. I used the Colorcoat on the lower section of my 968 door panels, covering black, and it still looks great 5+ years later.

I am about to paint the bottom of a dash I purchased and repaint all of my browned plastics with SEM color coat. It is supposed to be great stuff. There is a specific process and products to prep and this is critical to get a good result.

how bad is the interior pieces of your car? There are a few people who have updated different parts of there interiors on here. I kinda like the old school interior but I am 20 years older than you and remember drooling over these cars when new.
An option for changing the interior colour could be a new dash cover and seat covers...My dash was cracked and the seats were solid but the leather was very hard.
I purchased my dash cover at Classic 9...it looks great...there is also a stiching around the cluster opening which updates the look.

Here are some picks...i was not a fan of the brown when I got my car but love it now!

If there are plastic or vinyl components that need to be restored, I recommend using SEM vinyl spray paints. We restored a 1970 Camaro SS interior and some of my 928's interior components with a couple cans of SEM vinyl black.
