Figured it was easier to find your thread and read what progress was made than call you sometimes. lol

Damn thing sounds like an R/C plane and that is a seriously small pulley on that blower.

Sid, would you have any interest in trying out an air-water intercooler? I have one off a Jag XJR that I was planning on using for my SC project but seeing as that isn't going anywhere for some time, perhaps you can make better use of it. With how you have the supercharger mounted now (how I was going to do mine), the Jag IC should be able to fit in place of your plenum box, though you will have to shorten the AOS filler neck. I cut off the Jag runners already so it just needs some cleanup and welding to 944 runners. I'd let you have it for $50 (what I paid for it)...or maybe for copies of your brackets

See here if interested.

a little update:

not much done so far. However, I was fooling around tonight and tried a blow through maf just to see what it would do. Amazingly it fired up and revved w/o a piggyback. I couldn't believe it. This is one of the old mafs I used on my 951 way back when (I think it is a mustang maf). It runs smooth with or without the blower hooked up.

The only reason I tried it was that I didn't want to have to plumb in an afm pre blower as it would require a bunch of fab work. I am also waiting for Josh to get further along with the sd tune and thought rather than be bugging him about that I'd try something else in the mean time.

Couple quick observations, when playing around with temporary plumbing at least use decent clamps. Also this blower is putting out some major heat when I actually plumb it in vs free flowing. It makes boost quick too. I saw 10 psi by just cracking the throttle quickly.

I am excited about the prospects for this week now that I can see plumbing the intercooler in right away

here is a quick video I sent to Josh earlier. Again please pardon the temporary garbage.

Just to recap. You have a custom intake manifold as well as custom brackets fabbed up for an M90 supercharger?

Yes that is correct. I have already used this manifold a few years ago on theinitial "build..lol"

I am using differnt brackets now because I have changed theorientation of the blower.

If you read back I have already accomplised running this thing for some time. I am now going to utiize better tuning capabilities and better fab work when all is said and done, along with an effective intercooler. I think it's going to run much better this time honestly, as I didn't even use a wideband the last time I built it and depended on EGTs and had limited control over timing. I was using more of my old school knowledge back then.
Fortunately I was well versed in the forgiving nature of Ethanol

I have an adjustable on there. Ultimately that won't matter once we start the real tuning.

ahh i wish there was a e85 station where i lived, i would have to run pump gas, and the highest octane is 91. will that be okay to run?

At less than 10 psi it would be ok. Just make sure you have your timing in order

Also, not too much to update. Fixed the rear main seal leak. Also doing some fab work to the intake as well as cleaning it up a little while the welder is down.

Nice project! I'm still doubting about what to do myself.. 968 engine, turbo? Or maybe also a supercharger. On what points did you bolt the mounting bracket for the supercharger?

Honestly, after building both I'd say it really depends on you goals and budget. There are pros and cons to both. However, you can get great performance out of a small turbo that may be the best option overall. I'm really only doing the supercharger to finish a project I started and never took to the proper level. Who knows though, I do remember how much I loved the instant tq of the sc.

I have a crude, but strong bracket mounted off of the lower bolts that are usually used for the alternator/ac. I am also using a couple of the balance shaft bolts. For the third point I'm making an adjustable turnbuckle off of the motor mount. At this point, it is very solid even with just the two points.
