Default Drive in the Rain?

OK is it a wild misconception that you can not drive a Porsche in the rain (It might melt?) how many of you drive even if it is going to rain?, not counting daily drivers. just wondering, I drive mine in the rain (never had an issue) some guys I know will not drive theirs in the rain? and I see them advertised "never in the rain or snow" so how important is it to you? Do you drive your Porsche in the rain?

When I'm car shopping and I read that in an ad, I usually just think: "That's someone I don't want to meet."

Absolutely driven in the rain! Also in the snow.

At 235K+ miles, my '87 has seen it all.

Drive them, they clean up nicely

I am not afraid to drive mine in the rain. I have done it many times. I do try to avoid it if possible, but only because I don't want to have to clean it all over again. It sits in a nice clean dry garage, so I spend time cleaning it. Not a show quality clean, but pretty clean. It is not my dd, so it doesn't see a lot of miles anyways. (Mostly weekends) I do park at the back of the parking lot at a shopping mall or grocery store, but I DO NOT take up 2 spaces!

All the time its when you want a good handling car ! although I do put it away for winter to avoid the salt.
I love the view in the side mirror on the high way, the rooster tail over the flared wheel arch, I know I should be looking the other way !

drove my 944 in the rain two days ago. its looking like rain today and i might drive to today just to drive it. next nice day and i'll wash it again and it'll be back to normal. driving it in the snow is a different story and i would never drive it when there's the potential of salt on the road.

Let's put it this way. Porsches are designed as everyday cars. What other sports car company tells you to put vasaline on your wheels to prevent salt corrosion, and let's not forget that quarter inch or rubberized undercoating on our cars. Hmm I wonder what that's there for

My car isn't a daily driver - but I drive it in the rain.

(I'm behind the red car, next to the 911 with its headlights on.)

I live in Washington State.... it's always "going to rain". I drive in the rain, I do lapping days in the rain... it still hasn't melted.

Amen on the "that's a guy I don't want to meet" comment, and I'll add "that's probably a car I don't want" because that guy is the guy who buys oil filters from the Porsche dealer, and believes one aftermarket part will ruin the car, and he probably want's a small mint for his car because his isn't "molested" like all the rest of them are.

Unfortunately, I have met that guy, and he's not fun to hang out with.

944s are good in the rain, get a good tire though because they will hydroplane easily (very light).

the 944 valence is very good for pushing a 'wake' in deep puddles... i have forded 5" of standing water in my NA (which has 3" ground clearance)...who needs a jeep

oooh! oooh! I know! it's there to stop rabid chickens from pecking your feet while you drive! Now, if only I could figure out why they galvanized the whole car...

It was the end of the space age -- engineers were having an identity crisis, and it seemed more fantastical.

I drove my cab into work today despite the rain. Probably the first time I have purposely taken it out in the rain.

Decided when I woke up that I just want to drive it and the rain this year is relentless so to hell with it.

So far it hasn't melted or leaked.

Yes, indeed. If you look closely, you can see the vice grips holding the hood up.

Sweet photo!
