[QUOTE=pettybird;8510649] OT_____icsmike wonder if I could hijack your thread just for a second without getting my hands slap ? ___ pettybird: remember those rare wheels of yours that we were discussing a while back (did a search but couldn't find the thread) well there is a 931 for sale up here in Montreal & I'll be darn if those are not the same wheels as yours.

my car can drift at 90 + mph, and come back.
not proud of how i made this discovery.![ducking](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/icon107.gif)
car: amazing.
driver: not so much. in need of a smooth, wide tarmac to practice doing some turns.

I have had my 944 spec car to 6000 rpm in 5th gear. Given my 5th gear (.829 ratio) and tire size(225/50 R15) that calcuated to 132 mph. It was just entering turn 1 at call speedway in draft of a Honda. At that point I was pretty much out of revs. I 137 migth be possible on taller tires and the longer 5th, but it would take a while to get there. tThe car is reayl fast to about 100 mph and then it has to fight to overcome air drag. Stil tops out much faster than a spec miata. At cal speedway I think we have 5-10 mph top speed edge on them. They have less hp and not as good aero.

At LRP one year I hit the rev limiter in 4th gear down the straight. My speedo was showing just over 110mph. That was with 225-50-15 tires all around. The speedos on these cars are notoriously inaccurate, so who knows how fast I was really going. I think you need a lot of road or track to top these cars out in 5th, or someone who can actually drive and hit the downhill at LRP much faster than I ever dared to go.

i can tell you that at 60mph and above my speedo is 10mph off.. verified it with my gps.. would be nice to be able to fix the speedo so that its correct.

'84's had 160 mph speedo's, and I'd agree mine was only accurate to about 65, above that it was progressively optomistic. If I had a dollar for every car claimed to have hit 150+ by clueless owners...

not sure but my best guess would be that the leather fades over the years and perhaps different leather cleaners and conditioners over the years could have an effect of the color.

Yeah, the wheel in that pic sat in the New Mexico sun for over 10 years, closed up. It was probably 200 degrees inside in the summer. The carpet turned to powder.

such a shame that that happened to the interior and the carpet. but NM is a rather warm state so i guess unless a car is garage thats to be expected. is that your 84 944?
