Bravo! Excuse the noob question, but is it normal for the power curve to end (@ 8000rpm) without reaching a maximum point and starting to decline? Most dyno sheets I have seen drop off at the end. Makes me think there might be more power past 8000rpm? I understand that running an engine at very high RPMs can damage it though.

Michael says:
Here are a few more pics of the engine on the dyno, and a few from inspection after a ton of pulls to 8100 and one to 8500. I don't think you can tell the rod bearing condition from the photo, but they look new.

I know this motor is purpose built but as a general rule what's the deal with the divergence between the torque and HP on this particular build?
Oh and amazing work by the way! I'd have no problems with a big 16v motor for my 951!

RODS
Brian Pauter supplied custom billet rods (on the left) to accommodate the power level and the revised configuration. The big end is Honda size, and the pin bore is .866” (22mm). They’re 6.150” center to center (+ .250” over stock). Oil clearance of .0025” was achieved by stroking the big ends in the Sunnen rod machine.

That sounds like a Mopar rod length that being my reason for asking.

I do think torque is very good, converted to NM its the same as the current supercharged engine. I'm not complaining and who needs torque ;-)

No! I quit;it was interfering with my golf swing!
Yes, that's why I asked! It was a "question” not “criticism” I did not think there was a turbo or 4 extra cylinders hiding between the Dry Sump and ITB's!
Stock motor the HP and torque cruves are close so I “*** u med” this would be also. Sorry did'nt mean to **** in your Wheaties!

Great work Michael. Very impressive numbers from an n/a motor. Of course people are going to question what happens below 5000rpm however I assume that with a 3.2L n/a motor and high c/r it's going to have enough oomph to get it off the line and out of slow corners. I'd still love to see you tackle a turbo motor. Perhaps something for the future Henk.
Saw a similar looking motor in here somewhere.

Henk,
Amazing project - can't wait to see the results and get your feeling of how it compares to the SC engine. My SC project is slowly emerging - can't install it until after our season is completed in about a month or I'll be out of my class. Planning to give the GT3's a run for their money next year.

Well, this is one superb thread, just found it, and thank you. What a great build. It is going to be great to maybe see some performance stats and a video (please?) when it in the car and on the track. :-)
