awww come on. i was only havin' a little fun.
everyon knows i don't hardly know jack about 4 cylinder engines except where to put the 0w40 in at the first sign of frost.
to Michael and Henk, please accept my apology.
my rude and insensitive posting wasn't intented to be at anyone's expense....

Sometimes, just sometimes, it makes me wonder to what extent one generation of NA owners has told the next how there is no power to be made etc. When there may be - but just in combinations not yet attempted. What Michael has done is way beyond a typical build - it's the ideal.
Perhaps there's an extra 50hp (rather than 150hp) to be had with just the light internals and the right tune? Or some other combination. A 260whp S2 or a 200whp 2.7 would both be a big percentage increase - and those power levels are certainly in line with the engine architecture and displacement. Maybe people disagree - but, fundamentally I think Michael has will prove that with the right package big numbers are obtainable.
I, for one, keenly await a video of this work of art screaming it's lungs out on an engine dyno.

Dyno Results
Here's where we are. I'm fairly pleased, but I may try a cam change to pull the power peak down a bit. I made one pull to 8500 to find the peak: 8100. I've gone inside the engine to inspect after lots of dyno pulls and found everything PERFECT. So it looks like this thing will be quite durable as well as pretty powerful.
I tried to video a pull from inside the dyno room, but the fans pulling air through the room are so loud you can't hear the scream of the engine (exhaust goes outside). The video's not very impressive since you'd never know it went from 5000 to 8100. No shake, no smoke, no drama. Oh well.
