How to get more power out of NA, looking for 400hp ++
The eternal question, how to get decent power out of an NA engine. We'll be trying to answer this in this tread for the coming weeks.
We're looking for 400 fwhp as a base line
Michael Mount has started work on my S2 engine. I don't think Michael spents much time here, so i will do the updates if and when I get them from him.
The first bits are easy it seems, take a 968 crankshaft, offset grind it a bit for more stroke (from 3.46 to 3.56 inch), bore the cylinders from 4.09 to 4.155 and you have 3.2 liters of displacement.
add some lightweight rods and pistons and the core work is done.... But the real work starts.
Plan to keep y'all updated

Should be an amazing build. In the quest for THAT kind of NA power, every little bit counts. Your crank and rods could use some massaging. You want that oil to slick off as much as possible. The extra mass of the oil "caught" in the roughness of the metal results in increased rotating mass which equals parasitic hp loss.

This is not a Porsche engine, but you can see what I"m talking about. My crank and rods "looked" like yours in the picture until we did this. For those interested, this is one of my modifed Datsun Z L28 motors. We even went so far as to port match and smooth out oil/water passages!

have you given any thought to deckplating the motor? not like you need any access to the coolant channels. and keeping those cylinders stiff keeps headgaskets happy
also, i dont recall...does this motor run balance shafts or has the new rotating assembly+drysump allowed you to do away with it?

Had I not seen the pictures - I would have thought you were talking about a Honda. fwhp?
Looks like a great project. Hope you get what you're looking for. Might want to check it at the rear wheels though...

There is a thread on here where someone recently built a 330 HP N/A motor. I think the thread is called..."330 HP from an N/A". Check it out as a reference, dunno if you'll see things they did where you're going to free up more power. I thought it was a little strange, but from what I remember, it is even carbureted.
