i think it looks pretty good.
Doesn't look bad, but why is the timing belt cover at the cam broken or cut open?

not a bad buy if the proper maitenance has been performed and the seller is prepared to provide the buyer with those records.

just an opinion, maybe it's worth 6 grand. who's to say it isn't.... but i just can't see such an outlay of cash out for such an old car with mediocre performance. this other car (see link below) is clearly better.... somebody's going to have it for pcrobably for only around $ 2~2.5 k more than the price of the 924.... and it also has the rare, beefy connecting rods they added for the '95 cars. ($$$$).

the sky's the limit for ugrading a 968. ready for huge brakes, wheels and tires, and just about anything else you feel like doing. when you finish the car you'l have something that really creates a buzz when you drive it.... the picture below is the 993 headlamp upgrade from Deutsch Nine.

That 968 is going way under market, I'd say, so I am suspicious. Potentially a great buy. I don't think that necessarily makes the other 944 a bad deal, tho.

the manual coupees on cars.com and autotrader have gotten very pricey. it's reached the point were nobody's buying coupes anymore becuase they've become so rare that the few, lower-quality examples that remain are all overpriced.... it's my guess that this is another case of a 968 flying way below the radar, where another used car lot was holding out, trying to get too much $$$$ for it in a terrible economy. now the general manager has told his staff to finally, just get rid of it in a firesale.

now this is where it gets interesting.... in a situation like this, the dealer probably doesn't realize how rare the manual coupes are ! once any issues with the belts are sorted, i'm pretty sure someone's going to have themselves a very nice car.

See edits... that's the difference between a rare, late-model and a "plain old" 944. 944 parts are widely available, cheap for the most part, typically a fair amount of used parts available. On the much lower-volume 968 you are likely at the mercy of the stealer. Lots of potential for a high-dollar "surprise"

i used to own beautiful 944. but i have to be honest, people didn't come up 16 times a day and compliment me on the car like they do now. perhaps that's because back in the early '90s 944s were not exactly rare. not sure.... anyway, here on Rennlist, hardly anyone admits to liking these cars, (seriously) !! — except people who actually own one.... now, at my 1st 24 hours of Daytona, i walk back to my car and people are snapping pictures.

I don't give a **** about what other people think of my car. I'm sure if you drive a Herbie the Love Bug they'd be snapping pics too.

clearly better? more power, yes, but considerably heavier as well, and, come on, it looks like a 968 which is a kind of anonymous looking car whereas the 944 stands out...

and every single one of these upgrades applies to a 944 as well.

Odur, I think the 944 is more of a looker than the 968 In the days before I paid much attention to these cars (I was a youngster) the 944 appealed to me more than the 968. someone not very familiar with these cars would say the differences are subtle. and they are, as far as differences go. $4-5k more for a car is a huge chunk of change, btw.

the eBay (eBad) listing says you can get a 4 year, unlimited-mile warranty for $2600. warranties usually are written as to favor the seller. maybe the warranty is actually a good deal though.

Correction above. The worst of these policies require you to use a pre-approved shop, pay all expenses up front, and pray for reimbursement.
