Your dreaming if you think a cam and a tune will give you 500whp.

That's a LQ4, there's really not much a difference between a LQ4 and an LQ9. just change the heads and your the same as the LQ9 and the silverado SS runs a LQ4 if you were wondering.

LQ4 block - 400$
Rotating assembly - 2300$
LS6 heads- 300$
Comp Camp Wsprings/pushrods - 900$
then all the bolt on ****, headers, intake, intake manifold, 90mm TB, big *** MAF, injectors and the tune <-- this was all about $2000 but i had things like the LS6 manifold, 90mm TB and MAF laying around. The tune was like 1000$ after everything was said and done, and the headers were edlebrock i picked up for like 400$ from summit.

500hp?! didn't you read that other post where this guy selling a 944 says slap a $186.00 ebay turbo and i/c and have 600hp! Why waste your time with a measly 500hp?

BTW Not knocking a v8 swap. I am no stranger to walking the path less traveled.

I also know from experience that $5k won't get you a properly finished/detailed/reliable car once complete. 500hp will destroy most any stock or near stock parts. Once $5k is spent on the driveline, expect another $10k on all the stuff that will break or need upgrading after some fun driving sessions. (Not trying to be a downer, but I'd hate for some newbie to read this and think he could just drop a few grand and be whooping on Lambo's all day long.) As a general rule, if you think you can do it for X$, multiply it by 2 or 3 times or even more if you plan on paying someone to do the work.

You need to get some modified headers for them to fit, unless your going with a tube front end as well.

I dont think this is for a Pcar. Silverado SS can probably handle it with minimum driveline issues.

You're very right here...I'm about 10K into my car including the purchase of the car and ALL of the parts i've put into it and i'm waiting to put into it. I even have a turbo trans ready to go in...but i'm not pushing 500 RWHP, maybe 325 or 350 for me...If i were to go to 500, i'd probably need a turbo s box, a brand new clutch kit, as well as bellhousing and hydraulics to run all that crap...so it'd be at least another 3-4 grand on top of the cost of the engine upgrades to run that semi reliably...not even talking about wheels, tires, axles, mounts bla bla bla...What i learned in my build was the motor was the cheapest damned part of the whole shebang!

I agree. Once I got all the other stuff together the block was the smallest of the cost.

Agreed.

Get the project on the road, then brag to us about how much it cost

Nice!

But if you think about it, that motor is making less hp per liter than a stock 951 S.
