What about the old Monterey highway that parallels 101? Doesn't that dump you out by Gilroy someplace?

I was just about to post the same thing about Monterey Hwy. I'm not sure where it begins up in the bay though, have any idea?

Actually, since traffic is a pisser, I'll go over 17 to 1 south. Then somewhere around Freedom I'll take 152 east to 101. That dumps just South of Gilroy and results in roughly 2-3 miles of backtracking. Thanks for the suggestions.

I guess there's no easy way around that traffic getting out of San Jose, eh? Going over the 17 is quite a roundabout way. Might as well make it fun and take Black Moutain Road!

Cool

Hey guys, I haven't posted on rennlist before but this whole SoCal get together has prompted me to. I'd like to join the fun; I'm in La Mirada right off the 5 a ways north of La Jolla. I should be there on saturday provided my car doesn't decide to be anti-social or something like that.

BTW, I live in Gilroy when I'm not in school and the traffic is horrible getting into Gilroy on 101 for about 10 minutes and then it clears up pretty nicely (unless there's more construction than the last time I was there) and 152 pacheco pass is insane leaving Gilroy because of all the commuters trying to get home to Hollister so be warned.

Okay Danno - I'm a cheap bastard. Well, I actually spend money like water, its my wife that makes me a cheap bastard sometimes. I have the one-level lower Motorolla, WITHOUT the side-band channels (I used to be a CB kid - so I knew the lingo). So I have 14 nice whole channels, and I hope I can play. I would say, just to be totally ****, that if people are going to bring these radios and use them quite a bit, that they might need some extra AA batteries. I bought this set in San Fran when I bought my wife an 81 928 auto, and we drove it down to San Diego. I think we went through two ro three sets in 8 hours?

I will have to turn up the volume on mine so I can hear people say (YOU - In the BLACK 928 - SLOW THE H*LL Down....".

I don't know if I can do 160mph I only got to 150 before my wits caught up with me.

i say with reluctance that i won't be able to make it down south.. the sudden failure of my car (fuel/dme/whatever else) and the fact that funds are low are preventing me from having a good time with you guys. i hope that i can do this again near the end of the year like we did last year (for no. calif). i am going to get on my mountain bike this weekend and ride til i can't ride anymore. i'm really disgusted. sorry...

Going to be there as long as the CV joints stop the damm clicking in my rear end and Wolf lets me keep my chips in my car for more than 20 min.. I've got three radios maybe five ( people I need to get to return them to me) so should have a bunch for people in OC... by the way wolf and I are going to go run the Corona Rally X at 4 that afternoon if anyone else is feeling brave.

Talking

The time is drawing nearer. Soon I will be off of work and in the company of many fine Porsches... I mean people, yeah I meant people. Sure is a long way to drive for pizza though. Any excuse to get away from work.

Ok, I've found some tour guides for us Saturday night as we demolish the town. Romina recommends The Field to start out. It's a yuppie-ish Irish pub with lots of interesting characters. Also Keith (968 group head-honcho) knows a lot of local hangouts.

I sent out an email to the S.D. guys requesting accommodations. If you're looking for a place to stay, let me know...

Well, I'm screwed for this trip.
A bit of, "spirited" driving yesterday and I think my clutch is on the way out - CRAP! And I do mean only a "bit", two hard upshifts through some twisties at relatively low speed!
All of a sudden it is physically hard to shift gear to gear, especially 1st to 2nd or down shifting on the fwy from 4th to 3rd. Basically, all shifts are a fight. Car has the original clutch and is at 72K miles. So, I will likely NOT be on this run. PLEASE take a lot of pictures and someone post them.
By the way, which clutch is everyone recommending for a daily driver?
