This guy seemed pretty smart at the time. Sage advice that still rings true today, in fact.

Bring back a troll thread of all things....

I've found that some people hate/are scared of the 944 with a passion.. Of course 9 out of 10 times it's the people who have never owned or ridden in one and are just going by other people's opinions.

I hate and love the 944...

I can certainly agree with anyone who thinks they are giant piles of heaping dogcrap. I mean the engine is as bad as almost any other ever made. The 8V cars are a total joke from the standpoint of power in the current world (2009-2010). The turbo cars are such a joke its not even funny. The only way to make a Turbo car good is to spend lots of money on modifications. If you do that then the engine is much improved. They are are also a total joke in terms of perfection as they rarely are in perfect working order. Many of them have oil leaks, broken valve springs, vac leaks at the balance shafts and more. The same goes for early suspensions in terms of performance (Stamped steel) or reliability (Aluminum). The sunroof gears tend to break, odometer gears, and more!.

However, that being said when the car does work properly they are WONDERFUL! simply amazing cars to drive. You cannot find that feeling in any other car driven on the road even today. I have driven every car people tend to compare to a 944 (E36M3, Rx7 (all gens), 911, Cayman, 350Z, 370Z, G35, S2000, Rx8 and so on down the list) but none of them compare when it comes to handling at the limit expecially as speeds increase. Sure, they might be able to produce more grip etc.. etc.. and they might even have replaced the outdated Strut/Torsionbar suspension but they do not provide the feel.

So if I could replace that feel with something else I would in a heartbeat to get away from the 944 but since I simply cannot replace that feeling in any other car the 944 series is what I will be driving in the interm.

Guys this thread was started by a troll who was subsequently banished from the realm. I see no reason why it needed to be re-opened as there is no value in any part of it.

Thread closed.

Thanks,
