XSBOOST- project track diet

Yeah, took out the charcoal canister and the crap. Just saved a few lbs.... There are some vacuum lines that need to be plugged / looped back. And I cut the gas tank vent line under the car way up by the tank.
I'm thinking about removing the fog lights and doing something like the GTS headlight kit this winter. That should save a few more pounds. Also, because of a PCA rule change I can remove the carpet inside. I'm hoping with that and the sound deadening (and maybe part of the center console), perhaps I can get rid of another 25 lbs.
I'm also thinking about doing a lightweight pulley set on the front of the engine (depends on how bonuses work this year!)
(I wonder if I can gun-drill my driveshafts... )

the early hatch carpets are just a piece of carpet cut to fit with some wood boards riveted to the bottom, you could remove the wood and it would weigh almost nothing

Spencer- The weight difference really is huge. I have an 84 hatch carpet in my 951. Another huge weight loss was replacing my power adjustable seats with manual early sport seats with cloth centers from the same 84.

yes i know
right now i still have the original hatch carpet with a piece i cut to the shape on top of it because i havent gotten around to making insulation for the new piece yet. i think for the cubby boards i might use balsa wood or maybe fiberglass!

not sure on the weight yet- havent had a change to weight it all. Prob about 20lbs though. The camber plates dont have any brand names on them but they look very well built and lots of adjustment.

havent mounted the camber plates yet but i did manage to cut up some metal and make brakets to hold the oil cooler on- since i needed it mounted to measure for new lines. I'm going to make some gussets etc to brace them up alittle although the cooler as of now is mounted tighter than the bumper brace. Even tacked the nuts to the brakets so i can just drop some bolts in and its tight.

very neat dan!
does the 951 have small metal brackets that hang down on either side of the radiator frame? these are used on NAs as attachment points for the foglight buckets. an rx7 cooler will not fit the front of an NA due to these brackets in the way.

the oil cooler actually fits between them perfectly , but the lines would be longer and more difficult/expensive to make. I actually made a braket on the ps that bolts into that and the core support then has a box tube that hangs down and holds that side. I also bent the braket on the line side as you can see in the pic.
