wow, seems to be a nice find, but then they all do at first
If you've done your homework, you know to ask about clutch, belts, compression #'s, if he would agree to a PPI, . . .
His pricing is very attractive/realistic.

a 78k mile car that has not sat in an open field for a few years with its windows open would not need the work that was done. I had six 944s five with under 80k and one with 100k. not one of them had a cracked armrest.
try common sense here. If you owned a Porsche that you didnt drive, would it be in the sun, or in a garage. if in a garage....
you get the idea.
you may be right, i may be crazy, but...

I dunno...I've had my 951 for a year and already replaced the center console cover plastic piece twice...they are flimsy and break easily. I also recovered it with a piece from 928leather.com as it was showing signs of wear, and I bought my car with 80k.

Go into purchasing a 944 with at least 4k in your pocket to spend on whatever surprises that may arise despite history, you never know what kinda shop did the work on the car.
I bought a beautiful S2 in great shape, but I sunk alot of cash in PM stuff.
Oh ya, you might get the this boost bug I hear about. Ppl knowing they can get HP cheap from a turbo, which may lead to cha-ching $$! in possible stress issues on the car. So do you homework before modding your boost!

I wrote him an email, don't know if he's a rennlist member or not, but a nice guy. Here's what he said. "I think it had three previous owners, i dont know why it was repainted other than it is 24 years old, it was probably faded considering the rear hatch carpet is faded, i dont know where the previous owners kept it, i keep it in a garage. I obtained the car from my dads friend who is a disabled vet and just cant get in or out anymore, he had it for about 5 years, he has no service records other than his buddy did all the maintanance on it at his shop. I also have an 89 with 26k miles on it and wanted more of a daily driver, now i have two i dont really drive so im selling this one. Turbo pulls good, just not at full boost, it sounds like a weak wastegate spring, ive troubleshot most everything else, vaccum leaks, bypass valve, ect...Its a nice ca for 6k, thats what i have in it with new upholstery, alternator, tires. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for looking."

That guy buys cars, cleans em up and resells them very often.
Almost always a car on CL from him.
He sold a lister a car just a few months ago - black one with a bra in his avatar, not sure the user name.
I wouldn't be surprised if he had it painted...

I think I'm going to hold out on this one. I'm not in a hurry at all. Thanks for all of the replies. The last 944 I had was an non-turbo with 76,000 miles on the clock when I bought it. the car was immaculate for having the lower mileage. There was definitely no reason for a paint job either. So I'm going to keep looking. i would like to find a deal though, with the market being low and all. But time will tell, thanks again everyone!
