Post I JUST GOT BEAT by a VW!

Yep yep yep, believe it or not I got beat, but let me tell you the story..

Me and a close friend were driving my car on a busy street doing around 30 in a 45mph street. We were taking our sweet *** times, and you see a VW drive a little next to us, and the drivers friend eyeing us. So, I ripped past him to the light to give him the hint. We get to the light, and we both look at each other, and give each other the racing knod. The green light hits, and I was off, right off the line I pulled 3 car lengths in front of him. He was lagging behind, we are at 45mph at this point, and going up fast. We get to a straight road, and next thing I know I hear a turbo for a car kick in and he pulls in front, and completely ****s on me. The dood was up the street. So, I catch up and beep, and flash my lights, so he stops. Than, we stop the cars and start dieing from laughter. I gave him his credit for ****ting on me, and he gave me credit for ****ting on him off the line. We started conversating and he said his car was a VW Jetta Turbo, no wonder that sucker pulled in front at the 60mph mark. We laughed the rest of the night, and said or byes and left. Unbelievable.

I drive a 85-1/2 944 and my wife drives a 01 Jetta Turbo Diesel. She also rides a Yamaha FJ1100. One night we where coming back from some where here in town, came up to a light did the wana race look and she too kept up with me for the next mile to the next red light. Those things are fast. I know I can get the Jetta up to 100mph faster that the 944.

Was it a jetta? There is a 310hp bolt on kit from APR for the 1.8T.

Fast cars bro, that **** pulled to the 100 mark faster than me. I heard the turbos kick in, and it blasted.

Maybee because my car is 14 yrs old and his is 2. I still gave him credit, not many ppl can do that to me. He was shaking after the race, what a *****. He was like, "I hope the cops weren't around".

Actually quite a few people can "do that to you" a 924 is not a fast car off the line, and there's nothing you can do about it by "driving better." Most new cars are faster to 60 than a 944, but that doesn't change the fact that it's an amazing sportscar in lots of ways.

Especially with an auto trans, your car (and mine) is quite a dog compared to most everything else.

I was cracking up, and the kid was started to get scared because he thought I was going to beat him up. Anyway, I took the lose pretty well, it's nice getting beat that bad. You think your car is invincible until you step up to a badboy. I usually am able to take mustangs, and other cars, but the VW brother of mine took me.

It's a 924S, faster than a 944. BTW, a veedub turbo doesn't need a chip to beat a 944 NA, even stock the old ones do 0-60 in about 7 seconds, the new ones in mid 6's. 180 hp in the new ones, and from dyno tests, that appears to be underrated.

I got news for you: because of your 3 speed auto, they didn't know you were racing. Either that or half of their spark plug wires were broken.

The only way to drastically improve acceleration in an auto 924S is to take out the entire engine and drivetrain and replace it with a Chevy 350

What part of the state are you in? In this area, there's a few early Jettas (Jetti ?)with turboed VR6's that would pretty much eat most of the 951's on this board. Well, in a straight line anyway . Low 12s.

Mustangs = pieces of ****

I'd never be caught driving those pieces of ****s. I've ****ted on them, and I had friends who ****ted on them with hondas. Doesn't matter how the fast the car is, it's all about the driver.

That must say something about that VW driver.
