Default Solid Transmission Bracket

KLA has a new solid transmission mounting bracket to replace the rubber mount. This would take out any play in the transmission moving about.

I just did the window weld mod to mine...which by the way is very easy and cheap but how well it works remains to be seen...

Solid mount may be too stiff.

Try the suggestion from knfeparty first-if you do not like it, you've only lost a few dollars and time.

it's got to have some flexibility or something will break or porsche would have implemented it way back.

I dissagree. There are people who use solid mounts, no problem. There's too much vibration for any OE company to impliment something like this from the factory. There's a chance you could break something, but more of a chance with a soggy mount! Ask me how I know. I fragged a CV joint already and I haven't even had my car for 6 months. I can tell the trans is moving back there!

they had a much more substantial mount on the early cars; the later single mount seems stupid to me, i wouldn't trust a 170lb transmission hanging by two 8mm bolts and waving around at the slightest breeze.

just another reason i wouldnt want to own a late car.

The concern is when you're using a solid mount at one end of the drivetrain and a rubber/flexible mount at the other end, for instance a solid trans mount and then stock engine mounts, or vice versa, because the extra torsional stress on the drivetrain may lead to some sort of issue later on.

I was gonna post this but you typed most of it. I went to a solid trans mount this winter but left the year old rubber motor mounts. Well I broke two exhaust systems the second and third weekends of the year. We highly suspect the motor mounts at this point... I'll know for sure this weekend when I install lindsey solid motor mounts too.
