Did you switch to the short shifter or just the regular one? Was the shifter worn and loose?

Thanks! Yes, Turbo (hence the boost gauge and ****), and it's an '82... fairly modified, with Microsquirt, 951 IC, lowered, Cup2 wheels and more to come...

I put in the regular one, I've had no difficulty shifting and I don't really beat on the car. Shifter wasn't worn at all (36K miles, grease still good, not even 1/100th of a mm wear on shaft per my caliper.) I'm now proactively going after the known problems in these cars and heading them off before they bite me.

Still several things to do like:
1) Remote fan relays
2) Oil cooler gaskets
3) New engine mounts (It actually needs these.)
4) Replace original clutch (told you I don't beat on it.)
5) Maybe headlight relays, though I've got LEDs in there to reduce current already.

Basically, anything that runs high current through the dash wiring should have the existing power circuit used to signal a remote relay with new modern wiring powering it directly off the battery.

I think the list could be never ending.

Are you documenting any of the changes in your own thread? I'd be interested in how you will go about redoing relays to avoid high current for in-dash wiring. What year is your car? NA?

Car is early 85 NA. I'm just doing what others have already done, nothing special. I do try to make any changes reversible, in case some future sole wants to return it to stock.

It's Alcantara on top, leather on bottom. Done by 928 Leather (classic9leathershop.com now) in their shop. A-pillars, headliner and shift boot are Alcantara too. Shift boot was made by Redline. All of it was done about 10 years ago.

You have one of the finest 944 interiors. Did you find a significant reduction in glare with the alcantara dash?

Beautiful interior! What does the radio look like lit up?
On the what used to be back seat ... did the same shop make that for you?
Is this stored in a garage? Just wondering ... about dash fading etc.
