Mocked up some Pegasus Racing brake cooling duct air intakes to my track car in place of the heavy fog lights which I never used. These will duct right into the outlets on the front rotors ready for cooler running stock brakes next season. Will sand, prep and paint the valance first then rivet them in place.
Well, they look very nice! I'm not on facebook so I can't see the site, maybe he has another, I'll look. It looks like I'll need to take apart my instrument cluster soon, how are you liking the LED cluster lights?
Finally, after nearly 4 year restoration, my '86 951 barn find is back on the road. Virtually everything from rear to front has been replaced, rebuilt or upgraded to become a tribute car to the Martini race teams of the '80's. I won't bore with the list of everything that was done but the basics are: M30 suspension, Zimmerman/Hawk brakes, Cup 1 wheels w/Bridgestone's, New paint, glass and interior, re-engineered turbo, all engine components replaced and whole body repaint. Still a few things to finish (since the body shop didn't know how to replace all the disconnected electrical wires and grounds). So much fun to drive and really gathers people when its on the road or parked.
Wow, what an amazing thread. I can't believe it's the same one going all this time.
I didn't actually do anything to my 944 today. But I have been thinking about it more and more, and I believe that now, more than ever, is the time to enjoy and invest in this dream machine!!
Once I pass smog, everything is possible!
Today - created fiberglass reinforcement for passenger side door panel where armrest attaches, also pulled instrument cluster to replace a couple of bulbs.
I got the sound absorber finally installed into the TT and firewall area. Installed the master cylinder for the brake and clutch...Hooked up the rear and one of the front brake lines to the M/C..The rear one was a real fight but I FINALLY got the threads on the rear brake line fitting to thread in...More to come later this week. Once the lines are in, the TT can finally go back into it's tunnel...and the rear suspension...On the upswing with this beast....YAY!
About to test an idea. May allow for standalone installations to be a breeze, without having to use the ring gear crank sensor or an aftermarket crank trigger wheel.
hadn't heard of a 40-tooth trigger wheel before...neat!
Update... it works
36-1 trigger wheel in blue, which is running the engine. Green trace is the 40 tooth cam wheel. The "missing tooth" of the 36-1 wheel shows up after 35 pulses, and 20 teeth register on the green cam signal trace in this timeframe because the cam spins at 1/2 speed.
