I decided to change my spark plugs from copper to iridium NGK's and I noticed a difference instantly. I also replaced my fuel pump and received my 944 Porsche turbo spindles/rotors/hubs for the caliper conversion.

Replaced my Turbo "outlet to intercooler pipe hose" and swapped the J-boot with a new-to-me silicon boot from LR. I had everything buttoned up, fired it up, ran fine, shut it down and tried to shut the hood.... and it wouldn't shut.

I had installed a new air filter housing mount and when looking at the PET it seemed the other mount was installed on the wrong side of the grommet. WRONG. So I had to take it back apart.

Previously, I removed and modified the oil cooler heat shield on my car to prevent rattles. However right after that I developed a rattle from the cat. conv. I think. So at some point I'll check out the heat shield, gut the cat, and do a full under-car sweep of trouble issues.

I also got new tires! Dunlop Direzza DZ101 Love em, but need an alignment (It is on the calendar).

Speaking of turbos, check out my vanes. Could debris have caused the vanes to turn a bit blue on the end or do I have other issues?
NOTE: The shaft has NO play and spins easily.

Nicely done!

You can really tell that this motor is one-half of a 928's.

Wish my blue one was this far along.

Anyway, I ordered a front seal kit for it today. :-)

I washed, clay bard, and polished my car and saw absolutely no improvement. I either suck at washing my car, or my paint is just too ****ed up to be saved. Also, if anyone out there is thinking about using Nu-Finish, DO NOT USE IT! It eats your paint!

I did manage to score some R12, a recharge hose, and AC gauges on eBay for super cheap, so that made up for my car not looking any better. The best part was the guy didn't ask if I had an EPA 609 certification

Starting the prep work to put the 951 engine in the S2 cab.

I decided to drain the old(1000 miles on motul) oil out while the engine is on a stand. I put the oil catch tub on the support bar of the stand. It wasn't far enough over so the first gush of oil went all over the floor. Ugh. crap!

So the oil starts going into the catch tub and I start cleaning up the mess. The oil is just about finished draining when the tub decides it is not properly balanced on the support bar.
The tub tips off the bar and dumps a couple quarts of oil on the garage floor that I am just about done cleaning. Now I've got a bigger mess to clean up. (*&>^%$%#!!!!!!

Later today: re-tension timing belt

Current activity: digitizing 30 years of maintenance records. I'm putting EVERYTHING into a spreadsheet so I can track everything accurately without having to dig through the paperwork. It's also easier to add notes and contact information this way.

Neighbor knocked on the door to tell me there was a faint glow inside the 944. Now I know where the battery drain is - slightly sticking door light switch. You gotta love the dark nights & vigilant neighbors !! Now if only I could get the car started !!

We finally got some rain here yesterday so I pulled the cover off the work in progress and discovered the battery box leaks.
