It is that time of year again, when BeerTech Racing needs to stat planning for the 24 Hours of Lemons (Southeast version). And I was wondering if anyone had a car in NC area that might be used as a canidate, P-Car would be nice, but I am willing to consider other options (given that my friends all race Spec E30, a BMW would fit the filling as well).

I will be competing in the 24 hrs of lemons in the Detroitish region. There are talks that it will be moved to an actual race track this year in Ohio instead of toledo speedway. Possibly Nelsons Ledges? We ran a 97 jetta this past summer and finished second in Toledo. I've been checking craigs list so far I have 2 candidates at my shop.

Well I have a nice manual 89 corolla that I rallycrossed once, but I think the rings/valves are burned.
Let me know how the team develops; I'm in NC, I'm an engineer, and I've got some tools and can do some solidworks stuff if we need it.

You should get in on it somewhere. Find some friends, find a cheap car and figure it all out. A lot of the drivers in the race are not "racers" I think total cost per person for our team including the car ended up being around $600. I borrowed nomex from a friend and we spent almost $200 on food and beverages for crew and drivers. It was a lot of fun for not a whole lot of money. You don't need a racing license either. I highly recommend it.

I am guessing the team will find another E30 to run, we found a free 944 but it is far to nice to go into the LeMons.

Prior to this I has auto-crossed a bunch of times and done a few track days and drivers ed schools. If you don't have a competition license, it's an extra $50 per person with one for your entry fee and that's it. Half of my team had competition licenses and the other half paid. It seemed to be the same on most of the other teams as well, one "racer" with or without a license and some friends who are interested in the event. I started out first for our team to ease myself into the situation with the cars moving at a slow pace but after the first 2 laps of playing it cool, the nervousness wore off and I started passing people and making moves. It's best to have some knowledge and some experience driving but there were some drivers that I don't think had ever even seen a real race. It's cheap and it's fun. If the car gets dinged up, it doesn't matter because it's cheap. The goal is to finish. Before and after pics...

This is our 1986 MR2. We had initially planned on competing in Thunderhill this month but given that there were over 200 applicants, we got canned.
So we're lookin' to do the race in Texas in March/April (can't remember exactly).
