Default Door windows seal and trim installation

Any tips? How do you attach the trim to the seals? I tried pushing it into the trim from one end but got stuck and bent 3/4 of the way. Also, the trim piece on the bottom of the window, how the heck does that one install?

TIA,
Keith

I just did this... I think you're talking about the metal trim, right?
What I did was put the metal on the door first (except for the corner piece) then work the seals into them.
I used a rubber mallet a lot.

Ok, I did the upper window trim that way and it worked great! However on the lower trim, not so much and now there is a pea sized chip down to primer in my brand new paint. Any other tips on the lower window seal? Window up or down for installation? I say this because every time I thought it was installed the window rising would push it off.

Do you mean the scraper? The one with the 6 or so clips on it? Definitely window down, and if it keeps coming off, maybe your clips are beaten up or your window isn't in the right track (lower window track rubber not quite right or something like that).

I really hate working in and around the doors on these cars.

window down, use a putty knife to hold each clip open for the seal to get seated

Also make sure the trim seats back down into the metal trim. It has a lip that needs to be shoved into a slot.
Again... I used a rubber mallet and beat them in I tried it gently for a while but i slowly grew angry and ended up just forcing them furiously. Actually worked out.

Got them in and they were so strong that when the window motor pulled the window down it stayed in place and broke out of the channel that moves up and down. Fixed that and some how a window trim clip broke. Where can I find them and are they a VW part?

just for kicks, old vs. new trim

Did you remove the metal trim? Make sure they are on the correct side. The slot should be more away from the clip than towards it.
