Default Engine Swap......

We are starting to get serious about putting a Engine Swap kit together for the 944/924S cars. Since it is slow over here and my chief fabricator got laid off from his other job I put it past him last night and he agreed to start working on something.

This is what we were thinking:
1. VW Water Cooled 4 Cylinder Series Engines.
2. Nissan SR20DET
3. Toyota JZ Series

I know a lot of you are Sac-Religious about putting "J" motors in your cars, but they have some of the best bang for the buck and a lot of aftermarket support and parts. The idea is to do something affordable. The VW option is great but some of the accessories are $$. My goal is to make the Adapter/Clutch/Motor Mounts under $1k.

post your ideas!

Can't say I like the idea of a Japanese engine in a 944, I can only barely settle for an American one.

yeah I'd want something more exotic in a porsche than a ford engine or honda engine. obviously it wouldn't be cheap.

I'd rather spend money to mod the 944 engine. Why not supercharge it for more power?

yeah cayenne v6 would be cool.

as much as it would be heracy (sp?), a 3.5l VTEC v6 Honda would be a very fast combo!

rb26dett would never fit in a 944 engine bay. you're talking a 2.6 I6 with 2 turbo's and 2 intercoolers. it's too long. rb20det would fit and be pretty decent for power upgrade.

anyone have a measurement of a vg30de?...nissan 300zx motor.

i like the cheyenne and audi swaps...can be expensive but good return of power...but got's a question on the audi, would that allow us to stay rwd or would it make us do awd?
