Was the package addressed corectly? if it was and UPS is at fault, then I think UPS would take care of the problem.

I would call the shipper and ask for there help.

Good Luck

a project team i was on back at school once ordered some engine parts by ups. i used to have a copy of the tracking history which showed it originating in massachusets for delivery to new york... for a week you could see it progressing across the country to california, where it stayed for a few days, then it worked it's way back to georgia where it was "delivered", then there was some funky code for it being picked up again and finally sent to new york. all in all transit time was over 3 weeks.

i wish i still had that tracking record.

Not much better with FedEx. Had a FedEx driver come to my office one day with seven 90lb. compressors that were suppose to go to the warehouse (about two blocks away). Did everything I could think of to get the jerk to drive the two blocks and get them where they were suppose to be. But he wouldn't budge. Argued with the guy for at least 15 minutes (more than the time to go to the warehouse) - offered to go with him, offered to lead the way over, offered damn near everything - but no go. He insisted on taking them back if I wouldn't sign for them - and they were all part of an emergency shipment. So I took his papers and that's when I noticed that the delivery address was my office - on the second floor... And we don't have an elevator! So, I told him I'd take them after all. He wanted me to sign for them right there, but I told him I'd sign as soon as he delivered the packages to the proper address - my office! Then I watched as that idiot - who didn't weigh much more than the compressors, took each and every one of the boxes up the stairs and into my office. Took him damn near 30 minutes to deliver!

Company CEO came into my office and wanted to know what was going on and I told him I was instructing FedEx in the fine art of customer service! By the way, the compressors slid DOWN the stairs alot easier that they went up!

I don't want to hear I can't help you.Maybe I should put it that way to the their billing office . Send me the name of the people at ups you talked to. Thx -EG

News flash: UPS has sucked for decades, in my experience. At least now, when they lose your stuff, they can tell you where they think it went.

Seems like about half of the shipments that are anything but regular ground get f*&ked up somehow, late, lost, busted, whatever. Regular ground service does a little beter, maybe only 20% getting screwed. USPS sucks, too, just not as often and a slower...

I guess it's lack of real compeition that keeps 'em alive....somebody needs to invent a way to send 'stuff' online, like we send data... yeah, right!

And I'm sure y'all have heard that UPS & FedEx are gonna merge. New company will be called....

Jim,...."FedUP"

Yes, they suck. They tried to deliver my new computer from Dell yesterday. Nobody was here at 11:30 when they tried. Called them at 3; They wouldn't re-dispatch the driver (although they acknowledged the thing was on his truck and still in my neighborhood). They won't arrange a guaranteed 4 hour re-delivery window for Monday, told me I couldn't come pick it up yesterday because the truck it was bouncing around on wouldn't be back and unloaded until after the "customer service" center was closed. So I get to drive 18 miles on Monday and pick it up. Convenient.

As least they didn't leave it in the bushes by my door...

I found a UPS package in the middle of the road a while back. I could tell it wasnt empty so i picked it up, turns out it was a $3000 c.o.d. that the driver had left on his bumper. (it was a GPS navigation system for a boat) I took it to the UPS station and requested to speak to the highest ranking suit in the place. While returning the package and explaining to him how bad they suck, I suggest 10% would be fair as a reward. Check came in the mail about two weeks later!!!
I know first hand that FEDEX will spend $500 to deliver a $15 package if they screw up!!! Now thats customer service!!!

I would like to know how FedEx Ground goes about their shipping. Some headlight packages out to California take two days but the stuff into the New York City area takes up to 9 days. And New York is closer. They must be mixing the Ground service with Air on some shipments.

Paul C 944,

sorry to hear about your story with ups. I have to join the rant and give my little story

about five years ago, I bought a new computer. I had worked all summer saving up money. I was so excited, after I worked all summer planting sod in the Alabama?s summers, no fun. I bought all the parts from one company in, California Tring to save some money. Three days after I put order in, UPS when on strike. Ok I thought, one of the other companies will surly pick it up either USPS or FedEx. The box as over 12" so the USPS would take it and it weigh over 10lb or FedEx wouldn?t touch it either. Ok next plan, surly this strike wouldn?t last more than a week, I was wrong. My Box Sat outside in the RAIN, remember this is computer parts, for over a month. When I finally got the parts a month and a half later, UPS had re-boxed the package twice and all the parts were rusty, the manuals were a mess. Ok, I thought surly UPS or the company I bought this from would help me out, wrong a again. UPS bcs it ?wasn?t their fault, bcs it was their workers for striking.? The company, bcs it was passed the 30 day warranty. To make things worst, in the time it took the parts to come in, AMD and come out with two new processors, the voodoo 1 had come out. My once top of the line computer had lost about $250 in value, and that was a hell a lot for a 15 year old boy, who worked his *** off for this system.

The finally got the computer working a month later, remember I had no manuals they were all wet, and some of the parts were too rustily to use. In total took over three months to get my new top of the line computer, which at this point was three months badly out dated, and was worth about 300-400 less than what I paid for it.

We do have leverage over them. I ship, and have shipped to me, thousands of dollars of stuff every year at work. I don't use UPS. The only reason I used them for my computer is, Dell was shipping it to me "free". You get what you pay for, I guess...

For general information. It's known by me and some of my computer geek pals at work that UPS WILL sit on a ground shipment package, just to make sure that you don't recieve it before you would have recieved an air shipment. Also FedEx will let you pick up a package at their terminal (close to where I work anyway) instead of making you wait on their driver to deliver it to your house. UPS won't let you anywhere near their place. And scoff if you will, but I will ALWAYS get stuff sooner, and cheaper by the ol' USPS Priority mail.
