OMG DUDE! That would be the coolest thing ever! If I get a 944 parts car, with your experience we could set a record for the fastest dash swap conversion!

Default Finally, somewhat of an update...

You know, it's days like this where I look at the before and after shots and realize that being very meticulous does pay off. Clearly, I'm not finished AT ALL, but these images give you a damn good idea of the current status of the project, how it's coming together, how great it's going to look, and how sexy these 968 door panels are!

This project is taking much longer than I wanted, but I put the interior swap on pause since I very much want all of the body work on the car finished before the interior goes in for good. So, once just a simple interior swap has turned into a crazy restoration. I am officially crazy.

Here are the shots for comparison! Let me know what you think so far...

Before...

After...

Nice!
I am soooooo jealous of the 968 door panels! Now I might just have to spend my next 50 paychecks to buy some of those.

Ha.

Thanks. The 968 panels really are a great update to the interior! Just like a new set of wheels, they really make everything look 10x better!

Wow this is one of the coolest threds I have see on a 944/83
Was thinking of swapping late in myself, but found out It would cost me to mutch since I don't know how to weld and have limitid tools.
Im gonna make a creation tho, of original, late and fiberglass and its definitly gonna have cupholders
I wanna uppgrade my blowersystem to, but not sure what type I want. The sweetest thing would be an AC from a "new" VW caravelle even tho I bet that is expensive.
Anyone know if http://www.vintageair.com/ is a possibility to get the heat/ac as good as a 2005+ car ?

Thanks for the kind words. It's definitely still a work in progress. I want everything to be perfect.

What's wrong with your current A/C? I don't see why the vintage air would be a problem... but it would just be a lot of retrofitting of universal parts.

My current Heater is pretty poor I think. It blows so little cold out when its summer and when its winter it lacks alittle heat. But maybe that was becaus leak from the coolant. I gues Il fix the engine first and see how the heater is then

Ahhhh... you know, I feel bad at times for taking a break from the project, but I just wanted to put my money toward college and traveling around a bit.

I have actually been slowly buying supplies to build my own paint booth in my garage. I can't really afford to have someone else paint it, so I'm going to go for it myself. After seeing most excellent threads here on the 'list, I'm pretty confident I can do it. So far I have purchased a compressor, hoses, two paint guns, come Car Quiet for the fender wells and undercarriage, and I'm currently in the process of gathering the supplies for the paint booth itself.

Once the car is painted, I will be much happier finishing the interior. I don't want to officially put it in until everything is perfect.

The AC may not be the greatest ever but a properly functioning heater can get the car interior uncomfotably hot even in sub-0 temps...
