Smile Look what I did today :) (Pictures inside)

I covered my A-Pillars in leather. Also, I have been working on a leather cover for my center console, with French seams, for about a month now. I've been practicing with vinyl, and leather. I still got alot of work to do, but i'm getting closer. BTW, I didn't bother to cover the middle of the center console, becuase carpet covers it anyway.

That takes some initiative! Good work. Where did you get your leather, and how does it match the dash?

Thanks. It matches it ok, but it dosn't matter. The dash will be covered in leather anyway. I got the leather off of Ebay. It wasn't cheap, but it's nice. Lol.

Looks good.

Can you use regular sewing machines for leather/vinyl or do you need a more industrial model?

Nice work! Glad you didn't give up on the DIY after we talked about the dash the last time!

I'm in the middle of doing my carpet right now - cream domestic loop-pile... too early to call that a success, but indications are good.

I re-did my doorcards in brown leather-effect vinyl... easy to work with, pretty much exact colour of early-944-brown, and didn't need any stitching.

Your door handles and map pockets look really clean - did you use anything special there?

I've recently sourced a dash with minimal cracks locally, and I'm thinking about buying that, doing a repair on it, and installing it. My dash is cracked and warped pretty badly...

Keep up the good work! And please, pass through any links to articles on how to do french seams etc, and give us all some tips...

Smokiemon944- Thanks. Hopefully sometime in the future.

philca7- I just used a regular sewing machine, but it was a nice one. I plan on getting a industrial one later. It depends on how thick the leather or vinyl is, a powerfull industrial machine would be best probaly.

mtccl-Thanks. Rob Budd made that

v2Rocket_aka944-

bad_monkey- I couldn't give up. I just realized the dash was a bit more than I could handle, so I went to something littler, lol. Thanks, but I didn't do anything to the door handles or pockets, there just natually clean I guess, haha. Yea, the door pockets wont require any stichting, but the door handles will. And they have me really scared, lol. Keep my informed on the dash cracks, I need to know to repair mine as well. I don't have any links or articles, other than a book I bought at Barns & Noble, "Automotive Upholstery Handbook, by Don Taylor". Well yea, I also did go through all of Rob Budds 928 Leather Shop photo gallery, and examined every picture, lol.

NineFourFourNeophyte- Thanks!

jgleano- I just used a sewing machine.

Thanks for all the comments guys, hearing them makes me keep going.

P.S. I have a thing for smiley faces, haha.

I like the console!
I wonder if it would be possible to reinforce the console with metal or something... or if it's even worth it. I've already cracked a couple of those stupid plastic consoles.

I'm sure you could reinforce the console, i'm sure it would be alot of trouble though, lol.
