I guess if you really wanted to keep your original block or wanted to make some high-boost project you might use that...but in terms of money you could get several used blocks for that price...

I like the wine rack idea...instead of scrapping my damaged block I think I'll have some fun with it.

let me just say...your lucky it doesn't look like the one in one of my cars...and yes, almost all of those i can catch my fingernail in...GAAAAAH!!!!!

That's not bad at all. My bores looked considerably worse and I decided to go ahead with my rebuild. The engine pulls very strong and uses no oil between changes (even after doing a track session).

Just ignore it, and after you're done rebuilding, you'll never even think about it.

I have a couple with some damaged bores if you're interested in buying them. Otherwise they're going to be tables or scrapped. PM me.

Back to the original question...

That scratch does not look too bad. I would measure the bores, and if they are in spec, re-polish, re-ring and run it.
