Default Engine Block - what to do?

here's my spare engine block that i finally had a chance to take out of the box today, and sure enough what i was mostly afraid of became a reality - #4 cyl is scoured with one single line . I wanted to rebuild my spare engine, but now i don't know what to do - i really wasn't banking on having it re-bored.

did you buy it from an individual or a business? if it was a business I would try real hard to return it. Maybe now you can make a sweet table out of it or something...I'm still trying to find a use for my damaged blocks.

That doesn't look like much of a reason to scrap a block, unless of course, you can catch a fingernail on it, in which case make a nice table. The wife will appreciate it
I donated my last one to a friend who recycles metal. He had to remove all the studs to take it in, but aluminum is up at $1.40/pound here, was worth enough to be worth his time

What you plan to do with it? If you bore it you need oversize pistons.

I mean why you need a new block? Do you want to build the second engine?
For track or street?

How worn out are the cylinders (inside diameter)?

1. Boat anchor.
2. Fish habitat - salt water.
3. Wine bottle holder.

It's not what you 'can' do, it's what it's worth 'to' do.

not much.

If you need one the price is $ 1150.00 for rennlist members out of that, I'll pay your membership for 1 year.

really that shouldnt be too bad if it just barely catches your nail. Not great but... they make a kit to polish the bores and it should take alot of that out. Do a search on alusil polish kits.
