Default Did any 85.5's have power / central door locks?

Hiya guys, I'm looking to add power locks to my 85.5 but I can't find the factory wiring under the dash near the steering column for the control unit or under the radio in the console for the control switch. I know I would need to change out the door harnesses which is no big deal but I'm not willing to rewire the main harness. Is there something I'm missing? A quick look through my original 85.5 owner's manual makes no mention of power locks, did this come along in '86? Cheers.

I just added aftermarket locks...you just need a 2-position switch (I recycled my sunroof switch) and a power source (tapped off the cigarette lighter supply).

Haven't had any issues since.

Well I was hoping to do the complete install with factory parts. Has anyone done this on an 85.5?

stock locks is definitely the way to go. I had to fiddle with my aftermarket units around 10 times to finally hit a reliable solution.

If it wasn't a factory option at the time you may have to drill your door panels, I did...

I don't mind drilling to mount the solenoids if necessary I just want to do it with the factory wiring I can't seem to find on my 85.5...

I bought a kit from JC Whitney. I did not have to modify anything. They mounted inside the doors, works great! Good luck.

I could really use some direction here fellas...Is the wiring very well hidden or simply non-existent on the 85.5's?

Yeah, I have seen several '86's with factory pdl but have yet to see an '85.5 with a factory install. At this point I'm thinking there was never such animal.

My 86 didn't have central locking. I added aftermarket lock solenoids. don't need a central switch, when you lock or unlock one, the other one automatically does the same thing. I also added a small flashing LED in the door right next to the lock **** on each door that is triggered by the locked position power to make it flash when the doors are locked. Only had to pull a couple new wires to each door. Did the whole thing in an afternoon.

^^ that is what I did, the problem was that the aftermarket 5 wire solenoids had double the travel of the stock mechanism. Whenever they slipped due to this, they could get stuck in a feedback loop where one lock would trigger the other, which would then reverse it. The locks would continue to cycle on their own when it got into this mode.

I inadvertantly got caught up in this recently, I am swapping my 85.5 factory harness for a 86 harness. The connections for the doors are completely different, and the 86 harness has connections for power door locks, so unless you plan on changing the factory harness completely I would rule the factory stuff out.
