Why do S2000's keep racing me? (or what should I replace my 951 with?)

Stock vs stock, an S2000 will beat a 944 Turbo in every way (except possibly brake fade on a track). An S2000 will do 0-60 in 5.5 and 1/4 mile in 14.1, roughly. What mods do you have, and how fast is your 951?

Actually, a 944 turbo has more torque than an S2000, especially in the low revs. If the S2000 can rev 9K, it would be quite fast in the straight lines. The S2000 is also lighter by about 200 lbs. The outcome should depend on the driver and the type of course.
I only had Civics and Integras instigate challenges in SF, especially on hill climbs. It is funny to watch them rev high and peel out on the start next to me, but gradually trail behind and disappear. I have been beaten by a VW R32 and Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX on freeways and hills, though. They are scary fast and pulls strong.
Instead of replacing the 951, do a rear seat / panel delete and switch to manual cloth seats. That should shave off some weight and make the car even more competitive. As an added option, drop the GF off at the corner and come back to pick her off after beating the S2000. That should be good for 100lbs.

pickup trucks, pontiac bonnevilles, minivans.
yeah, for whatever reason they feel the need to bother me. I'm usually pretty tame on the hiway and maybe that's the problem.

Me too. I own an '83 NA with 220k miles on it. I've been at lights during rush hour and everytime I'm next to some sort of bike. R1, Busa, GSX-R1000. Everytime they think because my car is 20+ years old they've got me. It's when I leave them trailing in the dust behind me that they learn to believe in watercooled front engined powa. The worst was this yellow Ducati 948. He was talking so much trash, my NA put him in his place.

There's one other thing about the S2000, can you fit inside it. The last one I drove I had to seriously pull my left shoulder in towards the center of the car, & then use my right hand to close the drivers door. My left shoulder was pinned against the door when it was shut. Just not a comfortable car for everyone.

But seriously, the original poster made the comparison between the S2000 and his "not wildly modified" 951. I was just seeking some clarification on what his car was capable of.
OK, I'm being facetious. I'm not really trying to say that the S2000 is a faster car than the GT3. But it is faster than a stock 951. And at any comparable level of preparation, it will likely stay faster. I've driven an S2000 with a turbo that makes 400 rwhp, and drives smoother than either my S2000 or the 951, due to a lowered compression ratio. BTW, it's for sale right now for $25K.
As to the poster who couldn't fit in one, that's a good point. It seems that 6'2" is about the upper limit. I'm 5'9" and it fits me perfectly. Also, there is very little trunk space.

To many people's enjoyment, beating an expensive Porsche (talking back 1980's new prices) just fills many people's cravings.
They don't understand that we have an advantage, which is why Porsches cost so much, since mosy of the value went into hot dip galvanized body & chassis (virtually rust proof for life), all hardware is zinc dichromate plated and how the Porsche's are known to have been designed to last 20+ years. Honda (and any other competitor spots car model) can do the same, but the costs go up, so does their value, over here, there are no Japanese cars (or any other car besides European origin) that hit 20+ years and still running on stock engine, even dealer maintained ones.......

What I meant was that you are comparing a 21 year old car against a relatively new car. Technology has developed A LOT over those 21 years but still the fact that you can even make the comparison speaks volumes about the 951.

Nice! ![burnout](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/burnout.gif)
I love the S2000, d/t its powerband it doesnt feel fast to me at all, but it is a relatively quick car although noisy. And the trunk space isnt bad, I can load up everything I need for a weekend at the track with no problems. For the price, its hard to beat IMHO..everyone that drives it is pretty suprised its as good as it is stock.

The 951 I'd imagine would pull away in a drag race for a few seconds because it has about 100lb/ft more than the S2000 (S2000 is like 150? 951 is 243). The Honda would catch up VERY quick though and it would be a close quarter mile.
Turbo S however.....
