Default VERY very dumb question

What is that thing in the middle of the 924/pre 1985.5 944 dash, thats above the air vents? Is it a vent also, or is it like a speaker or something?
Sorry I'm a total noob to this.

It was a speaker cover for a mono radio, not stereo.

you can pry it off with a spatula or screwdriver, there's nothing in there except for a nut that holds the dash to the car.

Hmm wierd.
Can you do anything else with it?

While were here, lets just make this my stupid questions thread.

Do they have glass sunroofs that you can replace with the stock one?

Ahh, the coveted "saratoga top". Yes, there was a company that offered glass sunroofs. The roofs are quite rare nowadays, and go for about $700.

There is a small area available for storage if you so desire behind that speaker grille. You might make a custom phone mount or something small. Makes a good ganja stash too... it's a friends I swear..

Hmmm... I could think of a better use of $700...
Uh huh sure a friends haha
Okay well
More questions.
The back seat?
How small do you have to be to fit back there?
Ive never tried it cause it looked so tiny
But im looking at some pics online of some 944s and they dont look that small for some reason...
Maybe its just one of those things that pictures cant accurately capture?
But the next car I lsee I'll try it, but that wont be for like... 12 hours and I wanna know now lmao

Yeah I'm 5'9 150 so I highly doubted that I'd ever fit. I wont ever be back there so I dont have to worry about it though.
