Steve, any feeling on tomorrow's road outlook? Weather should be OK, but chains were required on 88 this morning, Ebbets Pass and Sonora Pass were closed according to the local news station. Couple inches of snow further north along I-80, don't know how much Hwy 88 and 89 got.

Also, Murphy's is having the Grape Stomp festival tomorrow....we can stop on the way down, and enter Juan in the stomping contest!!!! (but is there a barrel big enough for him?)

Rich,
This is almost identical to last time only more snow fell before and we were fine by Saturday. This time it's less than an 2" and will melt off or be cleared today. All the roads are 'no restrictions' at the moment except 88 over Carson Spur. Carson Spur is always the worst due to the the cliffs at the both edges of the road. I'm almost positive the restrictions will be lifted in a few hours as the weather is moving out and South. If you want to check the updates you can go to: http://www.dot.ca.gov/hq/roadinfo/hi.htm and check current highway status.

I say it's a go. When you look at what others here on rennlist deal with weather wise we would look like wimps to let a wet road stop us. Let's keep on eye on any changes though.

The last time i was in tahoe (last friday), the snow melted before 11am. It was fun while it lasted though. I guess we are kinda wimpy when it comes to the weather; but hey, maybe we're just more picky , 'cuz California Uber Alles!

i still got a rattle at certain RPM's. i emptied out my cubbies in the hatch, and it's not that. it rattles on startup, too, and if the rpm's drop below idle, so i'm sure it's a loose bolt rattling around somewhere.

now i just hope that it isnt a loose bolt on something important!

I'm still a go for tomorrow, si Dios permite.....

I was just under my car to remove a home made heat shield that was driving me nuts. My car rattles at idle, especially on cold start. ratlles are bearable, clunks aren't.

BTW: Hwy 88 just opened, hopefully Hwy 4 is next. I'll have to check on Mormon Emigrant Trail next.

the thing is it's at the back, it sounds like it's coming from the middle and sometimes the sides.

could be the exhaust heat shield, come to think of it......

The weather report is still dicey. The snow will clear out before 5pm. I think at this point with Ebbett's Pass (Hwy. 4) still closed we have wait as it may change soon or not get plowed until tomorrow. Here's where we sit and I would like input from people if you would. Mormon Emigrant is open, Hwy. 88 and 89 are both open with no restrictions. If Ebbett's doesn't open we have to take the 88 route back from Monitor Pass. So what do you guys feel about this?

1. Do we just do it and detour if necessary?
2. Move the run to Sunday?
3. Bag the whole thing?

Please try and keep from posting about parts falling off your car and how menudo cures impotence. People will be watching this thread for updates as this is the last night.

Thanks

I'm flexible, tomorrow or Sunday. First preference is to go tomorrow, play it as conditions dictate.
