I'm out because it will be a 600+ mile RT for me. I wish I could go, but school made me miss all the runs this year.

Great. If all of those confirmed can PM me their cell number. It helps when someone has trouble on the way in, has to cancel, or is running late. Rennlist was down the night and morning before the last run and people weren't sure if it was even still on or not. Does anyone else have GMRS radios? I have 2, cells can be useless up there.

It looks like we will dodge a bullet again on the weather. There is a cold/dry front coming through Thursday night/Friday morning. Any snow will be gone by Saturday but we might have to watch the early morning air temps in the shaded sections for ice. Should be sunny and in the high 50's low 60's. Perfect weather for tank tops and flip-flops.

OK Steve and all,

If your path remains true I'll be waiting for you in my 86 928 on Morman Immigrant Trail east of Jenkinson lake a mile or so, where the Forest Service information/staging area is on the right. I expect ot see you about 10AM but will be there a little earlier just in case you leave early or drive a lot faster than law allows. Looking foward to meeting everyone....

Just read through the thread and I see you all may be leaving Sunrise at 10:30, with a gas stop in Pollock. That pputs you at above location no sooner than 10:30, will plan accordingly. I have 4 GPR's if that helps, will have them charged. I think they are 10 milers, but in the mountains that depends on line of sight. Do you bag a lunch or plan a stop at a restaurant?

Glad to hear you are in, looks like the cars with the whizzy things under the hood are outnumbered this time by Sharks. I know the spot you are talking about. That's usually where we start to stretch out a bit but we'll stop for you! Yes, try and bring a bag lunch and a full tank. Last time we were there (10/29/05), the deli in Markleeville was just closing down for the Winter. You can always grab something at the Cutthroat Saloon or whatever they call it now but bringin your own is the best bet. If you have a cell number, send me a PM and I'll give you a call (coverage is sketchy up there) if we are running early or late. We usually leave Sunrise whenever everyone confirmed makes it so we might leave as early as 9:00 - 9:15. See you Saturday and keep your eye on the 1st post for any change in plans.

Do you have my cell number Steve?

Anyway, I'm still coming. I have a 2-way radio I'll be bringing. I'll most likely follow the other Bill (and Roger?) down route C since I'm essentially off of 580.

Just because you posted, why do you call the mercedes turbo twice? The non-turbo ones are 300D, so the T in 300TD is obviously for turbo. Or do you just like repeating yourself? 300 turbo diesel turbo.

It deploys quite a smoke screen when you insult it. Or at least mine did.

Got my 944 running and driving again, but don't feel confident doing a 300-400 miles shakedown test. I'll be at the next one guys.

You can always drive to the meeting place for a shakedown run. Then you at least get to see everyone and chat/hang out for a bit.
