Default Help! Scratch!!

How do I fix this?

Any ideas on how much to get it professionally taken care of? There are lots of flaws in the paintwork that I want to get fixed, but this is the only one caused by me and I feel a bit guilty.

touch it up, wetsand it and buff it- wont be perfect but will look better- or paint the whole panel.

I really don't want to paint the whole hood, it was redone fairly recently by the previous owner.

Do you think this will do the trick?

I would wetsand and buff afterwards.

I've also got another problem:

Do you think I could fix that just by touching it up? I would have to sand it down first. I've never done anything like this before so I'm not too confident in my abilities.

That first pic of your scratches could be caused by the buttons on the back pocket of somegirls jeans??

Oh I thought you were looking for causes, not fixes....

Haha I wish. In reality, it was caused by me running into a pole thing that was unexpectedly sticking out across the road...

check out http://www.autopia-carcare.com for car care aesthetic help. Quite the dedicated DIY-detailing site.

But yes: apply touch-up paint lightly and just enough to cover the scratch. Then, wet sand (remember, the wetter the better) it until the paint transition is smooth. Then buff with some polish and apply some wax. Won't be perfect given that the scratch went down to the metal.

When you wet sand, make sure you don't go too deep, as you'll pass thru the clear coat and down into the paint...not good.

If you're unsure about doing it, try your hand at a scratch near the bottom of the car, or somewhere not noticeable. Then, if you're satisfied, do the other scratch.

As for that last picture you posted, that won't be fixable with touch-up paint; you'll have to get it resprayed. Good luck!

Yeah, can't buff those out. definatley too deep. so..

clean it well. remove all wax from the surrounding area. take a tooth pick, as well as some gaurd's red touch up paint (Paint code is G1/G1) and fill it in. Then, there is a product called "Lanka" or "lankga" or something like that, which gives you polishes and sheets of soft cloth to remove the paint "bubbles" where you touched it up after it dried.

as for that second part, touch up will be obvious. that needs a repaint.
