Default 944 painted

I just got my car back from being painted.

I'm wondering how much its worth now because I want to move on to bigger and better things.

It's a 1986 944na with a turbo front bumper.

Can anyone give me some prices so I can sell it locally? Or should I just part it out? Here is what's wrong with it:

no 2nd gear

the window on the passenger side doesnt work

the hatch leeks

it leaks water into the passenger side from a rusted hole under the battery

the dash is cracked but has a dash cover

the odometer doesnt work

the seats are ripped

the ac doesnt work

the lights dont go up and down on their own

the windsheild has a scratch in it

the leather on the steering wheel is worn off

the center console has no arm rest

3000 bucks. lots of little things to work on, but sounds like a pretty solid car.

I'm PUI right now, so, why the hell did you spell "leaks" different in 2 sequential lines?

and also, being in a PUI state, why the hell did they not fix the bat. box or other body related things when you had it painted? did you take it to Maaco? Why would you part a freshly painted car? and why would you paint a car you were considering parting?

things don't make sense to me right now... prolly cuz I'm drunk... but it ain't adding up...

I'd say 3 G's MAX..... the no 2nd gear thing, yeah, that's iffy. a new paint job won't do much for the value. if someone bought it and immediately had to drop 600-1200 on a transaxle, it probably won't sell for much.

its just a project car, 2nd gear is the only gear that doesnt work... I drive it without it, but it does need a new transmission... I can get one for $300-$400 and put it in as we all know... not $600-$1200 where did that come from?

anyway I'd be happy with any price upward of $1500 for the car since I just want to get rid of it at this point.

and to the drunk guy #1 - who cares what makes sense? are you my dad or something?

Parting a car out takes a lot of time and a lot of patience. The more patience and time you have the more money you will make. And how much money you get depends on how far you want to part it out, interior, exterior, and engine. Some parts are easier to sell and unistall and some parts are harder to sell and are harder to uninstall. Basic parts like some interior (seats, controls, dash) and exterior parts (lights, moon roof, hatch) should sell quickly and easily. But if you want to make real money strip down the motor.

yeah, i think the extra paint on the tires and rims is worth some more too, paint looks like its running on driver side headlight. i hope it was a free paint job, and turbo front end was only done halfway, needs turbo fenders, and headlight covers too. I think 3000 is being way too generous. a poor new paint job is worth less then poor original paint

If you parted out the car, what parts are worth money? Body panels with crap paint on them are not worth much. Torn seats are not worth much. A broken transmission is not worth much. This car is a great example of a beater. A car that you can drive to work every day but you can't sell it and if you parted it, nearly every part is worthless, yet as a whole you can drive it around.

You might be able to sell the car for $500-$750. You could part it for more if your time is not valuable, assuming some parts are decent enough to sell. It'd take a day or two to strip the car, as for how long it takes to sell everything off that depends on how fast people buy parts and how soon you give up. If you list everything on ebay with no reserve you might be done in a month but earn 1/2 what you would if you took six months.

get some turbo headlight covers too..ouch

at this point you may want to fix some of they issues w/ the car before you sell it. Parting it wont get you far.

I'm thinking I wouldn't touch it for over 1350 right now... seeing as I bought cars that are in better overall condition for $1350... In fact I just passed on one for 1250. JC

That's the 944 turbo bumper that I sold to you , I'll give you $ 900.00 for the bumper if you include the car.
