Default who has the most powerfull 944na not turbo

Hi folks. I am just wondering who has the most powerful 944NA in this forum. Of course, I am not talking about any turbo cars or turbo-chargers, or transplants. I am talking about a pure 944 or 924S engine with internal modifications.

What will be the tricks to do to an engine like that to make it perform in a race track, because I have seen a couple of 944s in Atlanta competing with M3s E36 and bets and they did pretty good. I realized that the cars there weren't turbo cars. They were just 944s with big modifications. What would make the perfect modifications if money wasn't the issue and by experience in this forum, who owns the most powerful NA car in torque and horsepower?

Thanks!

My 944 S3 makes 236hp and 225 lb-ft...

In the world of the 8v NA, the car to have is the '83 (lightest) or '89 (most powerful). A friend of mine has an '89 with a fully-custom exhaust, and lightweight pulleys... the car probably has 180hp.

The best place to start (without going turbo) would be with a 16v car. The 944 S has 188hp and it looks like an NA The S2 has 208hp and looks like a turbo. I know bleucamaro had a supercharged S2 here on Rennlist, and that car was pretty quick. In the end, most mods for the engine are very much not worth it, and the best way to make the car quicker is to lighten it. The most effective way to reduce track times is to work on the suspension, and above all to become a better driver.

But take a 944S, slap on some goodies like a chip, exhaust, and maf, and you'd get something nice. I think jgporsche did that to his before selling it last month. I wonder what his hp was.

Tubular headers, high-flow exhaust, chip, MAF, cam(s), knifed crank and a lightened flywheel is about everything you can do to the NA motor. Stick a bottle on there like Fishey and you can make SERIOUS power.

an LS1 swap is the best bang for the buck for a 944. lighter and more reliable than a 951 engine. late model LS1's are 350+hp and 300+tq all day long. no more timing belt jobs, no $300 water pumps either. if you buy a nice NA, plus convert it yourself you still come out under a 951 cost. you can always upgrade the suspension and get the NA wilwood brake kit.

Umm, the conversions I heard of cost at least 5k just for parts.
Even at 5k,
nice 944 = 3-5k
951 = 8ish k

close, yes but doesn't seem like itll be under a 951 cost

I have a chipped 944S. If I stripped the interior for a race I bet I could pull on an E36 M3. Not by much but I could do it. I have faith in my beast!!

I once raced hard with a viper on track. Both of us in race group as I don't count DE stuff anymore. He did have bit of HP on my NA, but I got him and pulled away after a couple laps.

My car and also out qualfied a Ferrari F355 challenge car once.
