Hah...reading all this makes me miss my old 1988 RX-7. That was a great car that got me through college with hardly any trouble. Of course, I wanted a 944 the entire time I owned it, but that's not to say I wouldn't take a third gen twin turbo if I had the chance

Not to hijack this thread - but I just got brave enough/threw enough money at my car to take it on its first official "trip". Drove from my house to Scranton and just got back (went up to see some extended family). 2+ hours each way.
I was comfortable, and had a stupid smile on my face the whole time. This is a much better traveling car than I originally though it would be. Beats the crap out of driving my living room up there (the F150).

Hey Hey Hey, dont talk bad about rx-7's
Not every rx-7 owner is a rice burner. True we may be crazy, but nothing like little honda's running around everywhere with fart cans.
And an rx-7 that hasnt been taken care of is usually owned by an idiot who thinks he has something. Ive seen some porsche's like that rx-7 mentioned, yet for some reason porsche's dont get called any names like we do....
Both the 944 and the rx-7 are good cars, the interior peices could have been better built in the rx-7, but that's about all I have wrong with mine so far.
They both have their good and bad points, but im goin with my turbo 7 rather than my '83
. Cheaper to upgrade and a MUCH larger aftermarket part supply.
The 944 falls short in the reliable power and upgrade section that im looking for in a car.
Sorry for the rant, I get crap for the rx-7 from my dad sometimes. But I will never

if the rx7 was galvanized like the porsche i would be in another 85 gsl-se in custom silver metallic with burgandy leather interior. that car fit me perfectly when I put the taller center cosole lid on.
the 944 fits me almost perfectly.

Yeah, id love to have my rx-7 galvanized. But instead im going to coat the underside with the rubbery stuff like on the bottom of the 944. And have the car repainted, fenderwells and all
Figured what the h*ll since its already got a stripped interior.
Should keep the rust away for a while.

I can guarantee my 3 rotor will own any 951. period. 3 rotor, streetported, greddy T88..conservative (thats 14 lbs...) boost is about 590 at the wheels...they are both good cars though. the rx7 doesnt have elec problems, the dash doesnt crack, theres a huge aftermarket for them and you dont have to be a doctor or donald trump to maintain and upgrade them. no timing belt jobs, clutch takes about 3 hours from start to finish...the 944 has better low end torque, more room on the inside, and feels a bit more solid than the FC RX7s do (1986-1990) stock Vs. stock....start throwing parts at them and I feel the 944 maxes out pretty early...the 944 NA engine isnt going to put out any more significant HP with alot of $$$$$ whereas the rx7 can be streetported for free (do it yourself) and thats usually about 10-15% gain in HP if it was done right....
