Default I should of listened!!!

This being my first post I would like to say I should have listened to every one on this forum!!!

I'm 18 and ever since I got my license I wanted a 944. So over the past new year's I bought an 85.5 944 n/a for $7,000. And over the last couple of months I've spent over 3,000 on the car
It went from new tires two days in. To a $1,800 bill for all that fun timing belt stuff, this week. I should have just listened to everyone on here saying theses cars are not cheap.

But the important thing is...I love the car and I'm sad everyday I can't drive it.
I'll post some pictures when I get that right
For now it’s Black
With only 81,000's miles and Black/scripted interior

(p.s redzS2 was the name I wanted when I thought I was getting a S2)

Expensive, but worth it.
Just wait till you have to do the clutch. I just had mine done...for $2000.

Can't wait for the first repair fo the 911.

Wow. Must be in awesome shape for 7k bucks.

Learn to do the work yourself...you'll thank yourself later. Your still young like I am, and learning to wrench when your your young will give you 40, 50 or even more years of time to save a LOT of money if you can wrench yourself.

Ah dont worry about it. whats done is done. The $7k was obviously too much thats the prob, not the cost of the other stuff. If you'd spent a more realistic $2500-$3000, then the extra $3k would have been acceptable.
But you now have a beautiful black 944. with new tires. and only 81k miles.

Post Pics!!

Dont worry.. none of us here listened to the warnings, obviously. That's why we're all making posts pissed about how much labor/parts/things breaking etc is costing.

You'll be okay. 81k miles is pretty nice. I got mine at 152k miles and I'm convinced that at that mileage things inexplicably break faster than you can fix them.

Welcome to the list!

You have already learned part of the first lesson....These cars can be expensive. the other half of that lesson is just get used to breaking in that credit card....and paying it off. Inital price seems kind of high, but the repair costs are in line, just wait till you have to do the clutch, oil pan gasket or motor mounts.

Get out and enjoy the car young grasshopper.

My grandpa and I tired to do the timing belts by our selfs and half way through decided that we didn't know enough to do it right. (The upper and lower cam bolts wouldn't come out.) So we took it to a porsche shop so thats the reason for the bill.
The car itself has only been driven a couple thousand miles since 98. In fact the oil was last changed in 97 at 77,xxx and I'm now just driving it over 81,000. So I imagine alot more can and will go wrong. Like the bloodly sun roof!

I don't know what the minimum number of post you have to have before you can post pictures. But as soon as I can I'll post up some pictures for you guys.

I hope that you car didn't have a broken odometer at one point. That's a common problem on these cars.

Check out the Garage Shop Manual at clarks-garage.com. It's a solid online shop manual for these cars, and will help you.

i sold my black na for 4500 too, high mileage, but i had already done everything so it looked nice.. to bad the next owner ran it into the ground and it caught on fire and blew up in less then a year.... makes it hard to swallow thinking about it, even though it wasnt mine anymore

I hope not..the car only looks like it has 80,000 miles on it. The PO didn't have the papers for the last time the belts were changed. So when an odd sound started coming from the engine I looked into it. 7 was alot of money and I payed that much thinking I wouldn't have to put 3,000 more into it.

I have had clarks-garage and rennlist booked marked from last July.. I just took me that long before i decided to post somthing.

I payed 6.2k for my 85.5 with 138k on it. I know its high but the past owner replaced a bunch of stuff that made it worth it.
