Default Where to install Subwoofer

I just got one of these small self contained subwoofers and was wonder where would be the best place to put it.

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-gu1brjk...BB2&i=105CSBB2

I was thinking under the front seats but I was not sure how is the best way to secure. I do not want to punch holes down through the floor board.

The other alternative is the fabricate a shelf on one of the side cubbies (The sub will fit horizonally in there.

Any thoughts?

Also, where is the best place to get power lead? From the battery or the fuse panel?

I will post pics later if you wish, but I like the idea of being able to remove it for transport or spontaneous weight reduction. I have mine cargo netted to the back of the rear seat. Michael

That's actually pretty cool...consider mounting it below the lower half of the rear seats? It looks like it could mount up on that carpet segment..

As far as power goes, my recommendation would be to add a new power wire directly to / from the battery (with it's own fuse). You don't want to wire it into anything that's already in the trunk or you run the risk of overloading a wire.

I understand. Just make sure it sounds good and you're really happy with giving up a cubby before you make that decision. Michael

Edit: +1 on the direct from batter. You will need an RF noise supressor between the pre-amp out and the amp - closer to the amp. Especially if you get acceleration whine. I have an extra if you can't find them (~$7 on ebay). I got mine at a local stereo install place.

I tried to find the plug from the battery to the firewall that I can run the wire through but I have a car alarm and I think that plug has been used for the alarm horn. The cars that have just a plug, do they have factory alarm?

I had an Infinity Basslink mounted in the spare tire spot. Add some padding and not much mounting required.

On a side note, your rear hatch will begin to leak after you install the subwoofer!

Regards,
Russell

I am thinking of just sitting upder the front seats for now. I going to try to find a way to secure it without punhing holes thru the floor.

I didn't mean remove the seats --if you look in your car in the rear foot area you will see carpet immediately below the seat bottoms. Imagine you were sitting back there, the subwoofer would be against your heels.
