Default Horrific pictures.

Ok I copy/pasted this post from one I did at Pelican so hopefully it will all work.

Oh, one of the pics is mirrored and I am too lazy to fix it.

....

My 62K mile original (key word coming here) "non-wrecked" 951 that I bought last month.

The wavy rail is the drivers side.
The welded one is the passenger side.
Only welded on the bottom 1" - the rest of it is still intact.

Yes, that is the drivers side caster block.
And yes, the mount is bent upwards.
Oh, yeah, its also missing the sway bar.

I would not take this on the track or autocross with it!!! Be careful driving it too! That weld wont hold like that. Welds are easily fatigued and that is a stress point in the vehicle. It has no surface area to spread load and it's taking torsional force, something that welds can't do well either. Because the frame is strong as a box you can use thinner and less material (less weight) but it will crumple and collapse like a coke can if that one weld gives up. The frame might snap apart dumping the passenger side of the car. Get in touch with a professional welder and he will know how to properly fix that. It requires heavy steel plate with holes drilled in it for spot welding. Basically you need to spread the loads on the weld out. This should be priorty above all other problems with the car IMO.

When I got my car, I discovered it suffered similar disasters, but was fixed via a much safer welding job.

Buyer Beware.....Rennlisters as well...we shouldn't have to look at that kind of carnage.

pj - its only a small weld, probably 1" tall along the rail at most. The rest of the rail is intact.
Also, the weld is ahead of any mounting points except the sway bar.

Thats good I suppose. If you push it hard I might still consider box welding some extra steel in there around those stress points to strengthen it up a little. For some reason I thought it was right against the strut tower! haha Guess I was the alarmist there.... Thats really unfortunate man. I dont think its anything that couldnt be repaired though, if you are still planning on keeping the car.

I would take it to a competent frame shop and get the car measured out, if it hit something that hard the whole frame could be out.
