Good wording on the shipping situation. As you probably know it is pricey. If someone asks, UPS will charge about $150 including the special box (crate) and insurance to ship continental USA. Someone else on here is selling a Saratoga top and he quoted $35 for shipping. No way will it be that cheap (and make it there in one piece).

For the shipping find someone in the area that ha a foam in place machine. Offer them $25 if they will do it for you. I did this with my saratoga and it worked perfectly.

That's a really spiffy sunroof...I'd buy it but I can't get my OWN sunroof to open. The motor runs when i push the button but it doesn't go up

The latches seem to be broken though. How would one go about fixing this? If I can get it done soon maybe I'll find a saratoga

Check out the Clarks Garage website or do a search on here for "sunroof". You'll get plenty of info. Fixes/problems vary by model year of car as the system changed slightly over time.

That would look great in the white 968, not too far of a drive to pick it up either

Someone take it to a glass shop and get it copied!
Sell them cheap - or cheaper than the ever so rare saratoga for $700
I'd pay $300 happily!

It would do so much for the community!
It would end poverty, and create world peace!

I will be watching, but i doubt it will stay in my price range .

Pozican, i looked into getting custom ones made as one of my ex-g/f's family owned a rather large glass shop. Her uncle was more than willing to try and come up with something. The big problem is figuring out the mounting hardware. Contrary to what i thought stuff like the curvature of the glass is not a big deal.

Also i would hate to be the guinea pig to drop off a ~$600-700 piece of glass for them to experiment on.

And you could just as easily use a regular sunroof as a mold.

The demand is too small and 944 owners are notoriously too cheap. This is good for people who occasionally run acrossed a Saratoga and want to make a little profit off of it. But it is still a small group of prospective buyers. The market would be flooded and the value would hit bottom if someone just made 100 or so new Saratoga's.

I never really wanted one, but I must say the grey/non-bronze looking ones are catching my eye more and more lately...good luck with the sale.

So the hard part was decided to be the moldings for the bracketing on the car?
I beleive they are plastic...
If I could obtain one of these, break off the plastic, order 2 sets of hardware for it, and send the saratoga to the glass shop it wouldn't be too big of an issue?

I'm trying to figure out what I'm missing.

Thanks TD

If you can figure out how to get the mounting hardware to work then i am sure you can find a glass shop that can cut a piece of tempered glass and shaped with the right curvature to fit the roof. Again, bring in your sunroof as a mold for them.

When i talked to her uncle about it i inquired about doing a few of them to sell off. He said he would only do a one off piece as it would still be alot of work (though not impossible). I would have needed to figure out the mounting part myself.
